This is also a second career for me, I would recommend it. I initially went to school for business and was in the supply chain/logistics field and did shyt in operations management, and sales for years. I got tired of the bullshyt and the politics of corporate.
Wife is also a nurse for many years so I decided to switch and pursue nursing. It has its pros and cons but ultimately, I’m glad I made the switch. It’s much more fulfilling although it can be very stressful and comes with bullshyt also. But the opportunities are endless, places need you more than you need them so you can go anywhere and always have mad jobs lined up. Pay is straight, you can make good money if you’re willing to work OT or travel (even local travel). I normally work 3 13 hour shifts and if I pick up anything after that it’s OT. You do have to get used to working every other weekend and every other holiday though. But I love having days off during the week to go to the gym, run errands and shyt. Overall, I feel like a I have much more work life balance. But when you’re working your 3 or 4 12s in a row it’s long fukking days breh.
No more fukking jumping through hoops for promotions or competing against hundreds of other ppl for that 1 position. Hospitals will be begging you to work for them. Also no more bringing work home and taking calls on vacations and all that kinda bullshyt breh
