If you can't enjoy the track for what it is because you wanted some epic story then that's on you. Nas was obviously having fun with the concept.

He didn’t want an epic story. He’s just hating cause this the type of shyt that people prolly told him over and over separates Nas from Jay. nikka talkin bout it’s “easy” yet don’t know shyt about writing rhymes. And Nas was literally the first mainstream rapper to pull it off. And the last up until 20 years later where Game JUST attempted it and used Nas’ verse as a template. Didn’t even create his shyt from scratch. A testament to how difficult that had to be for Nas to create from scratch. U got nikkas in here talkin bout Momento and plot twists n shyt. nikkas is crazy.

It ain’t been done because it wasn’t that dope like that. All Nas rapped about was generic shyt. The shyt is a cool record. Nothing more. And lol what do Jay Z have to do with this? I named way better nas concept records. So why would I be insecure that Jay didn’t make a record that I just think is ok lol
