it’s about being able to describe a scene that’s moving backwards

and still being vivid yet making it easy for people to vibe to

trust me he coulda got way more crazy but it wouldn’t have made for good MUSIC

I don’t think people realize how difficult it is too toe the line with a concept like this. Make it too complicated and it’s going to be super corny.
Lupe doing this song would have been an abomination.
Nas executed this concept flawlessly.
And on top of all that, had he just told this exact story forward, it still would have been a dope song, though of course nowhere near as legendary as Rewind is.
