No he doesn't stink, i expected more from what you were saying tho.

It's the first season anyway, revis didn't blow til his second either.

I knew he wouldn't put up numbers when they started rushing him up the middle...but it's a luxury to have a guy that can get pressure up the middle...

What he did to Max Unger on one play on Sunday....with one arm...... :scusthova:

With Rex there i thought he would use him properly! They obviously have issues on that line hence why they've put him inside instead of outside.

J.J. Watt, leading candidate for Defensive POY in his second year, had only 5.5 sacks as a rookie playing the same position as Coples. Calais Campbell didn't have a sack in his first year. It takes a while to learn to play that position. Plus 5-tech 3-4 DEs are not supposed to be putting up huge sack numbers and are supposed to be commanding more double teams and have completely different gap responsibilities then your normal 4-tech 4-3 DE. What J.J. Watt is doing is simply unbelievable. If Coples gets anywhere from 6-8 sacks and playing the run well I will be extremely happy with that.

We as Jets fans are overly sensitive about D-Line prospects after Robertson and Gholston, but in limited action Coples has already shown to be a better player than them. Dude is gonna be a load to deal with for years to come. When u see him in games he is most often double teamed so opposing teams already know. As he understands what teams are trying to do to him, his counter moves will develop. Wilkerson, Ellis and Coples is gonna be a beast of a D-Line.

Indeed....which is why I'm SOO HAPPY they cut Aaron Maybin's bum ass today.

The thing is...he can be used lots of ways...but I don't see the use of rushing him up the middle if we don't have someone on the edge that can take advantage of it.

2. Max Unger had no clue what was about to happen

4. with one nasty branded ass arm Unger is getting ROCKED

5. Russel Martin sees the madness and starts to run.

If the jets only had a decent edge rusher to take advantage of what Coples does up the gut....

It's almost like they've given up on this season so people like Coples will be affected!

Next year he should progress.

I really hate the way they're using him. He should be getting MUCH more snaps. Dude is the truth.

how many effective 290 lb OLB's are there in the league? kids a good athlete but hes lost in open space

liked him more as a 4-3 end, but he did have the weight for 3-4. then they drafted Richardson whose just a better player

Didn't he drop weight though? I'm guessing he still has to get used to playing the position. As been mentioned already, he's a DE learning a new position. I think it'll take time.
