R&b commercially is dead & it's been dead for a decade now.

Thanks to T-pain for helping open the flood gate for that auto tune sound that got every rapper tryna sing full songs.

People rather listen to that than hear real singers go off on songs & if they do they're listening to ariana grande & shawn Mendes.

R&b is officially a niche genre. It's a vibe now:yeshrug:

The fact white people like Adele or Sam Smith can win accolades for traditional RnB says it isn’t true.

Alicia Keys got major attention when she came out but drifted to the more hip-hop RnB,too.

I think people just want a more mashed up style than separate genre artist.

yes from cacs

the black youth have no interest in real R&B that's why its dead

White people buy the majority of all music. Being mainstream vs niche by definition means you will pull in a diverse audience.

People’s buying habits changed.

Having songs that are played in clubs will guarantee you more audience than when you had Soul Train, American Bandstand, and just MTV/BET in general in strong rotation to get you listeners.

what does that have to do with anything I said

white people didn't listen to Teanie Marie, only black people did, she like the only white artist to ever do black music foreal she a legend to black people but white people don't play her music anywhere

culturally, R&B is not on the radar for the black youth, the R&B is the rap hybrid, people are making new R&B and its good, its just not a the forefront of the culture like it was before, why cant you grasp that

nobody cares what white people or the accolades, that's why you view as validation who gets those dumb awards, black don't listen to Adele she don't even make R&B, her music is like Celine Dion

Sam Smith has R&B songs but most of his music is pop
