That’s the most popular artist out the bunch. What a coincidence... :martin:

She's popular because she makes decent music. Can't say the same for the others. Even though she makes decent music, still it doesn't hold a candle to older r&b singers and groups.

People say that about everything. Nostalgia is undefeated

:unimpressed:

Not in this case. The music is watered down and the original sound is lost. It hasn't even evolved into something new. The artists are lackluster and mediocre.

I blame kellz and t pain
Ironically they're actually very talented singers

Plus, not to sound cliche, but i also blame the fact that a lot of younger millennials and zillenials, basically 90s babies on down) never really grew up in church singing in the choir or playing instruments.

Not their fault (well im technically part of this generation too).
Esp. Since most of em grew up listening to gucci mane, chief keef, and"knuck if you buck":russ:

Its the Same reason why a lot of rappers these days lack depth.

Its not a coincidence that the best r&b artists from back in the day grew up in church or were involved in music in school etc.

But yeah, the genre pretty much fell off during the earlier 10s.

No disputing that :yeshrug:

Record companies cut corners. They don’t put a much money in R&B as they used to so yeah the quality isn’t the same. But that the case for music as a whole since it’s shift from analog & session players to computers.
