R&B is still here. I think fans just stopped supporting it.

It's out there, you just gotta support it.

the fairytale is dead*

This is also an interesting idea.

The 90's was all about the fantasy of the future.

You know
that may also be part of it

but hat begging ass r&b just would not come off as authentic now

we know folks ain't moving like that ha

You are over exaggerating the “begging” just to be a hater. It’s the songwriting and producing. Plus people still listen to those “begging” songs

Honestly I haven’t had a problem with r&b, I’ve always found new artists to fukk with. The way I see it there so many different styles of r&b today that it’s pretty hard to get bored. Obviously the most popular style is the more trap/hip hop R&B style but there is so much more.

you got dudes bringing that real soulful vibe like Anderson .Paak, Marco Mckinnis, & BJ the Chicago Kid

you got modern neo-soul songstresses like Raveena, Cleo Sol, & Ari Lennox

and the male counterparts like Sebastian Mikael or Lucky Daye (mixes styles of funk and pop as well)

You got alternative R&B mixing in genres such as rock and indie like Dijon, Choker, & Brandon

you got the new dudes influenced by Prince and carrying his torch like Ro James, Kyle Dion, Blood Orange, & Luke James

and before I continue, all these nikkas I've shown so far can SING sing, I know y'all feel like nikkas don't sing fr these days lemme be the first to tell you.. they do and they do it well too.

you got 90s vibes mixed with the atmospheric Sade sound like Erika de Casier & Ojerime

then you got the Devante/Jodeci influenced sound from people like Matt Cleare & Brent Faiyaz/Sonder

and I know y'all gon complain about nikkas just straight up copying 90s sounds so these 4 above are heavily influenced by the 90s R&B sound but put a twist on it that sounds completely unique and modern.

as I keep writing this I’m reminded of new R&B heavyweights on the rise like Snoh Aalegra, Gemaine, Arin Ray (Babyface Cosign), Giveon, & JMSN

I'd post more but I feel like i've already posted a lot so enjoy and stop saying stupid shyt about R&B being dead. Blame the fans for not bigging up these artists killing it in the industry.

Yup

The industry is only pushing certain kinds of rnb acts to the forefront; young ppl dont like big voices; the consolidation of music media; streaming; and alot acts choosing to go independent will have you believing differently

Still a lot of quality out there tho

Love King. Have some of the best harmonies I've heard in a while

Then theres Ari Lennox, HER, Anderson .Paak, BJ the Chicago Kid, Miguel, Alicia Keys etc

Brandy just dropped and Monica soon

Usher dropped a few new singles last several months but I dont believe they made too much noise

Dont Waste My Time was dope to me but not a fan of Ella Mai like that.

Know the coli dislikes Beyonce but she would've been a better feature. Her and Usher always had nice chemistry. Or someone else from his era. Hope Beys next album is RNB. Feel like she is wasting her voice

Music:mjlol:

But the 90s had soul:damn:
Every last song of my generation borrowed/sampled
Everything before them:heh:
Well we had The Neptune’s/Timbaland:damn:
Them nikkas recycled so many beats:dead:
But y’all big up Drake, Sza and Meg Tha Stallion :deadrose:
That tells me everything I need to know about posters
And music on this forum:dead:

they need to eliminate cursing, autotune, and trap beats from these modern RnB somgs. Stop catering to the strip clubs and street corners, and go back to loving a quality woman. You cant play any of these trap RnB songs at a family function. :mindblown:
