I'd say black people love money and business too much, which is why you don't see as much economic loyalty as you see in Jewish and Asain comminities.

And it can't be, "if I was white, my grandparents would've had money and I could've gotten into Harvard due to their connections." That applies to establishment old money types who are less than 1% of the population.

I wasn't allowed to join a country club after moving into the neighborhood when i was living in GA because they didn't want any black members.
I was also unable to drive my car down certain streets without being pulled over by the cops and ask what i was doing there.
I remember in school in that city, i complained several times about white people calling me racial slurs and they gave me a shrug as well

But more generally, blatant rights violations is not as important as the subtle ones, having your neighborhood fall into disrepair because the banks refuse to sign off on loans that reasonably reflect the value of the home, is racism and directly responsible for the wealth gap. You either have to sell your house way below market value or hold on to it hoping someone one day will come and pay cash, meanwhile property values drop because they won't approve loans to maintain the properties around you either, basically manufacturing ghettos. All because of the race of the people living there. A bunch of white people move in, suddenly the properties are worth more and the loans are approved.

White children whose parents are in the top fifth of the income distribution have a 41.1 percent chance of staying there as adults; for Hispanic children, the rate is 30.6 percent, and for Asian-American children, 49.9 percent. But for black children, it’s only 18 percent, and for American Indian children only 23 percent.


Indeed, black and American Indian children born into upper- or upper-middle-class families are nearly as likely to fall to the bottom fifth of the income distribution as to stay in the top fifth.

Conversely, upward mobility for children born into the bottom fifth of the distribution is markedly higher among whites than among black or American Indian children. Among children who grew up in the bottom fifth of the distribution, 10.6 percent of whites make it into the top fifth of household incomes themselves, as do 25.5 percent of Asian-Americans. By contrast, only 7.1 percent of Hispanic children born in the bottom fifth make it to the top fifth, along with 3.3 percent of American Indian children and a tiny 2.5 percent of black children.

What do you consider an elite academic space? What percentage of undergrads are black?

If admission to an undergrad institution is based primarily on EC, test scores, essays, etc., why would "black" students be any less likely to gain entry than students of any other skin color?

Because there is not equitable access to quality college prep schools. Schools with majority black students statistically test lower, and they are way less likely to have access to AP courses. Not to mention when they get accepted, they are more likely to have to take remedial courses.

So if they are not being properly prepared on a mass level, not having access to expensive tutors and community service projects, having important/socially impactful people writing your letters of recommendation, etc. it all impacts it.
