It's a stupid question

it is a stupid question that ignores that we are talking about populations i.e. big numbers and it ignores the fundamental issue that we are not talking about black/white do/not do for individuals but rather patterns across that population and the effects these have on overall broad achievement patterns.

at its base there is an increase in allostatic load for black people generally and particular black males. that pulls the achievement (vs. effort) curve downwards across the board (assuming broad same effort capability across society) for brehdom.

structural racism and the attrition of racism itself (for whatever reason) are two major contributors to allostatic load and this creates both a mental burden and a physical / health burden.

how people cannot work this stuff out is beyond me :hubie:

It kinda gives credence to that fact BLM chick that said racism might affect Black womens weight loss and everyone clowned her.

Because there is not equitable access to quality college prep schools. Schools with majority black students statistically test lower, and they are way less likely to have access to AP courses. Not to mention when they get accepted, they are more likely to have to take remedial courses.

So if they are not being properly prepared on a mass level, not having access to expensive tutors and community service projects, having important/socially impactful people writing your letters of recommendation, etc. it all impacts it.

So these students are unprepared and cannot compete with other students? These sound like siginificant problems.

Why the asians so well prepared?

:russ: I know, you got it. One of these, "your girl a 10, mine an 11.3" type dudes.

You've done all that, lived all over the world, but still complaining like a woman instead of dropping jewels for the rest?

Help it all make sense.

It's a stupid question that attempts to allude to systematic barriers not existing.

It's racial gaslighting

The data and numbers tell the truth.

So if all this is true, as you say it is, what is your strategy for the future? How are you going to adapt? How are you going to help your family and community adapt?

By complaining on a forum?

No one is complaining we are acknowledging the forces that create the out comes. The dude that you are disparaging above pointed out that physiological stress might contribute to the outcomes that we see. To get Black people to where we need to be we have to take a wholistic approach to diagnosing the problem.

I encourage you to do your own research on the condition of inner city schools.

I will use my city as an example. My high school has zero Asian students because none live in our district. The schools in the areas where they live are typically more suburban schools with larger tax bases so they are able to have more resources. The IB program is there, and I won’t lie, their parents tend to be on them more about their studies.

These schools are stacked with top of the line equipment, have zero tolerance on disciplinary issues, and there is more of an emphasis on academic excellence as opposed to trying to get students engaged.

In comparison, most inner city schools are Title I, and it’s rough to get parents involved, especially if they distrust the system and were failed by it.

Asians have had a whole different experience than black people in America. It has never been illegal for them to read, were not forced into underfunded schools, and have been looked upon as being smart, so even average ones benefit from this stereotype. Meanwhile, a Black person has to go above and beyond to not be perceived as dumb or ignorant. It’s one of the tenets of respectability politics

And even when you say Asians, that’s a broad generalization. Are you referring to the wealthy Asians who populate tier 1 universities? Southeast Asians who are more working class?
