I kind of get where you are coming from. I feel the same way about rappers rapping over other rappers and more popular beats and then they use the same exact flow on it. That shyt is played out.

Radio freestyles are super hit or miss. It doesn't prove anything. Anyone can sit down and come up with the hottest 16 and rap it over a beat

While my stalkers ramble about Biatch, they're too shook and basic to touch this essential point.

:salute:

I'm definitely with you on that first bold part, but as far as rapping over other people's stuff, that's simply a rap staple, it just happens less now because people's mixtapes are practically free albums now, and it's been that way since 2010. The Jackin 4 Beats style tapes used to be a way to just build buzz for your eventual studio release, but with people pumping out constant album quality mixtapes, that's almost a lost cause. Honestly now, unless you're from Houston, a punchline type rapper (Fab, Jada, etc), or a dope newer dude (Nipsey, Krit, etc), I don't want to hear you over other people's stuff cause it just won't be as good or exceed the original.

As far as the second bold part, this is just not true at all lol

If you don't enjoy an old-fashioned "lunchroom" type freestyle, you're simply not hiphop:yeshrug:

That's the essence of this shyt.

Back in the day if you was gonna catch any part of Rap City it was gonna be the freestyle session. Videos was cool but the freestyle was the main event.:ohlawd:

I hear OP only recently got into hiphop, this thread proves it:ld:

I kinda agree I wouldn't go so far as to say they are corny but they are nowhere near as entertaining as an original piece of music

I don't think it's necessary for every rapper to do but it shouldn't go extinct as an artform.

Yeah I don't understand how you can be a hip hop "fan" and not enjoy what hip hop really is:dahell:
