I saw it earlier and just kept scrolling, lol.

But this goes right back to not wanting to spend bread. You gotta be willing to spend to set the album up for success. Chef out here trying to pinch pennies on an album that's mad important for him right now. That ain't gonna work. Sh*t is corny with all this AI nonsense. The people need to see HIM.

My issue is that these guys act like they have no options IE they either spend a lot of money or they spend nothing and do some cheap shyt. But the world is full of talented directors, producers, artists, designers etc who would kill for the opportunity to work with legacy rappers. If you want to stick to Americans, NY and Cali are full of dope visual artists and recent grads who want that opportunity. Or you can bring in some eastern European Wu stan who happens to be a good director/producer/etc. All better options but when your management is lazy you're either getting some kid from down the block to do your album cover (shout outs to Cappadonna lol) or some white boy in the camp is telling you about AI. Lose lose.

I think they're not used to doing what they always paid labels to do, back in the day.

So I try to show n*ggas a little grace, lol. I get how hard it is for 50+ year old MC's to adjust to doing things the way it's mostly done today, with the indie sh*t. But this is why they need to hire new people who can help them navigate the changes and up their game for today's market. The music game is so different now, and it just seems that they're not doing the work to learn how to adjust to doing sh*t at a high level, but for the current times.

They already have the following. All they need to do is get some new heads in there to help them build for this era and just kill sh*t.

Oh I agree. I forgot if it was Lupe or Big Pooh who said it but there's a huge difference in comfort between the label booking you nice hotels and you booking 2 star hotels/motels while independent. There's a lot of work involved and I have NEVER gotten the impression that the Wu (or most 90s rappers) wanted to do the work required for that shyt. Those mid 2000s years were rough for a lot of 90s rappers who were no longer selling but didn't want to go independent or deal with the perception. Remember at the time 50 was clowning Koch but at the very same time independent labels like Stones Throw and Rhymesayers were doing pretty well. But you just couldn't convince guys like AZ/Jada/Wu/etc to take a look at the type of bread Atmosphere or Dilated Peoples were making because at the end of the day those guys didn't have nice hotels or a food budget at the studio.
:manny:

Now these guys are well into their 40s and fans are still demanding they work with all these producers and do things they clearly don't want to do. Sounds like the Wu is done touring but it seems obvious that Rae will go on tour with Nas alongside some of these other legends who are dropping albums on Mass Appeal. That's prob gonna be a big ass arena tour and he'll make good money so I doubt he gives a shyt about calling up Alchemist or whoever for beats.

Bro, Rae said he "didn't have time" to even read his management agreement with Divine, but knew that Divine was "making too much" money. HAHA!!

Those dudes are definitely not used to sitting and doing the work to oversee every detail of their business. They don’t even seem like they want to do it.

If Rae don't stop with these AI videos :gucci:

None of these legends give a shyt :heh:

Just lowest possible effort to make some bread off this half assed releases. Sad to say. I dread to imagine what this Ghost album is gonna sound like. Look at that bullshyt Rakim putting out.

That's what made the LL album last year so refreshing. Him and Tip were just locked in making the best music possible. No half measures. Even that Common/Pete joint, which i wasn't crazy about musically, but it still had a level of care and craft that's missing in these other legacy acts. And the sad thing with Rae, the talent is still there. He's spitting. It ain't like he's washed sounding like Cam out there. He just doesn't have the drive to do better.

Only track I don’t like is Debra Night Wine.

And I really don’t like it.

Everything else great.
