Public Enemy had a huge white fanbase as well...

Our people are just programmed to listen to simple commercial music

I remember going to college in savannah during the early 90s and RAKIM and UNCLE LUKE were both performing that same night in two different venues

And unfortunately most of the blacks chose UNCLE LUKE :manny:

To be honest, when they were popping, 2 Live Crew/Uncle Luke had a pred white fanbase, not a black one.

When you tour in mostly White countries that will be the case.

I'm always a bit surprised how Black Americans have just ignored the African and Latin American market, whilst Reggae artist have always been heavy in them spots.

I Don't think it's a case of ignoring markets, it's just that they probably don't sell well in those areas.

I mean, you wanna make as much money as possible in this rap shyt, right, so "ignoring markets" would be a really dumb thing to do in that respect.

Yeah I get it, but there is a bit off neglect some our artist have towards those markets.

Just using Latin America, Rap is huge out there, but very few rappers have performed anywhere in the Americas outside of Jamaica, Mexico City, maybe PR .

But like I said, Reggae artist are all over Latin America, doing shows.

It's because most aframs live in the USA and see no real importance of hitting up those markets because of the size and population of the USA. Whereas a Jamaican who comes from a small island with a small population might and should find it beneficial to look somewhere else with more people to appeal to. It's a pure numbers things IMO. Afram musicians only looked outside the USA (UK and France) when the audience for the music they were doing dried up in the USA, specifically Blues and Jazz musicians.

majority of people who parake in ANY cultural facets(chinese food, mexican food, rap music, etc) are white. Sports is a diff category, but same result

Just because they come to your show doesn't mean anything. You're entertaining them. If Raekwon wasn't a rapper 99% of those ppl wouldn't care he existed.
:heh:

If Raekwon wasn't a rapper 44would YOU care he existed breh?

Maybe you're loosely using the term "from the jump" but white people en masse didn't fukk with Wu like that until after "Forever". The major reason they attempted to tour with Rage Against The Machine is because Wu couldn't get booked at arena venues with predominantly white crowds by themselves prior to that.

Fred.
Most white people at these shows wu has today arent true wu fans anyway. They wear the tshirts cause they think its cool and very few prolly even know the music. Its a status thing. Wu tang is "cool". Its like tarantino movies or other cult scenes. Its pure branding. Wu can goto some small town in kentucky and prolly drAw a show regardless if they know all the music or not. Nore cant donthat. Very few artists can in hip hop.

The average person, black or white, will fukk with what brand is new at the time. Thats why when i was in high school corny white kids who eminen and 50 cent turned on sprouted up and today we got kendrick and jcole kids. If they even hip hop fans like that they will on a random friday night goto a wu show ovet somebody else whos brand is less known.

As far as wu always having white fans. Duh. They put the white borough of ny on the map. The whole island love em and its mostly white. All nyc white hip hop kids like wu. I was at a bbq with my friends the other day who are in their early to mid 30s of staten island heads. We listened to throwback wu mobb cnn jay all day. The same agre group of my south jersey friends wouldnt even be into that stuff cause its culturally totally different and those peoppe wouod prolly be at the wu shiw over my nyc people.

Nas jay wu kanye have the best brands in hip hop. Youll see majority white people at each one of their shows. All shows really. But those brands reached out to other cultures.

Same go for record sales but people still go on this angle that if you have strong white support it somehow goes against you and your success

European and Caucasian audiences keep a lot of the legends eating while black Americans support Future it seems :yeshrug:

Sad, but a lot of black folk rather be the forefront of a new trend than appreciate the legends.
