I downloaded Rakim's discography the other day and Rakim is on another level. You have to consider that Ra was spitting like a rap god in 1987. Let that sink in for a second. Almost 30 years ago. Anyone else spitting at that time, sounds dated and their flow is lame but Ra had a way with words and his voice was commanding. Also, take into account that Ra didn't curse.

Without Rakim, Nas would be nowhere near as acclaimed as he is.

All of this is true but Nas learned all that, incorporated it, then developed a more diverse style than Ra at the end of the day

damm man also everything nas does ra did it first and better then nas.

complex rhyme patterns and multis ra was the first to do that.

complex wordplay metaphors ra was the first do that

Nas but shyt like this is hard to say.
There's completely unknown metal guys today that are a lot more technical than Hendrix and Page.

Rakim took it from 20 to 97, Nas took it from 97 to 98 but before that people like Kool G, Ghostface had already taken it to 99. So by that definition Nas.

Rakim may have the rhyme schemes down, but Nas has a better grasp of flow and cadence.

Nas does not have skill close to rakim.
Plus, rakim is light years ahead of nas in any and every delivery/performance or flow based department as well.
