-Q: Was there almost a trade with Phoenix on draft night, involving your pick moving or Stoudemire? Even when Curry fell to your spot?
-NELSON: I wasn’t privy to that. Maybe there was. I don’t know.
All I know is that was my guy and I wanted to draft him, thought he’d be there and he was.
When Minnesota took that kid that wasn’t very good (Jonny Flynn)… we knew he was going to be there.
-Q: But Curry didn’t come in for work out for you guys and I don’t think his agent particularly wanted him to end up with the Warriors at that time. Were you worried about that–no chance to work him out or meet him close to the draft?
-NELSON: No, I was actually glad because I didn’t want anybody to know how high I was on him until after the draft.
But Minnesota made the bed for us; that was wonderful.
Q: If Curry was gone, would you have taken Jordan Hill?
-NELSON: He was the second pick. We would’ve… I wouldn’t say we loved him, but he was, I thought, a pretty solid pick.
We would’ve taken him had Curry not been there.
We wouldn’t have taken the guy Minnesota took, Jonny something. Pretty slim pickings, I think.
