Being the best is not a matter of chance but just a matter of fact. Harden has been the best player in the league overall this season. The MVP award does not decide who has factually been playing better, only how biased/unbiased the people voting for it are. All the games have been recorded, the numbers are there. The term valuable is pretty straightforward. All this nonsense about who the MVP has "historically" gone to is not relevant. They could decide to give the award to Jeremy Lin, doesn't make him the actual best player in the league this season. Curry is a great player and he's among the best 5/6 players in the league right now, no doubt. But he has not been the best. He just so happens to be the player from the elite player group that's on the best team this season. That's not because he's that many wins better than those other players though. I think you're right that he probably will win it though. More power to him. Takes away from the meaning of the term MVP though.
