His rookie contract expires after 2015-16 season regardless. But if he waits to sign his contract extension in the 2016 offseason after the cap jumps rather than signing it this offseason he can make a lot more money, basically.
So basically he'd just be a restricted free agent if he waited? I was just wondering if he'd actually be free to sign wherever unrestricted.

Pretty much. The only way he'll become unrestricted is if he rejects an extension in the 2016 offseason and signs the qualifying offer, then he'll become an unrestricted FA in the 2017 offseason. But it's pretty rare for that to happen, especially for a player of his caliber

Rodney Hood is starting to come around for the Jazz, I thought at the time of the draft he would be a steal at #23 but he got off to a pretty slow start to his career. He's put together a string of pretty great games and if he can live up to expectations that's pretty huge for Utah.

All I know is, the Jazz are going to be a PROBLEM next season.
