Part of the blame needs to go to Mike Malone. Just seems like Malone wants Jokic to be this ultimate hub at the expense of Jokic getting worn out. Like Jokic didn't even rest the entire 2nd half and 2 overtimes. That's foolish. The funny thing is that you can see whenever Jokic doesn't play, the Nuggets actually play decent and have some identity. So to over rely on Jokic like that is not going to help in the long run
Yea, the whole "heliocentric" phenomenon of the past 15+ years, whether it be LeBron, Harden, Russ, Luka, Jokic...
... the play style takes an
unbelievable amount of ability and energy but its overindulgence can also be manufactured and self-serving by design (rather than need), or used to mask lazy basketball/coaching.
I've felt this way with D'Antoni to Kidd to now Malone. Granted it's more noticeable or flawed with guards/wings bc of how blatant they just stand watch and drift when the ball isn't in their hands.
