The sound was still on my feed when they went to break. Pretty sure he told Buddy Hield "shut yo' bytch ass up." Then he laughed so I thought maybe he was okay. But then he said "goddamn my knee" and I knew it was probably real bad.

Good. Should’ve never fired Thibs
i for real think social media influences GM's more than anything. in the 2020s, u see "Fire the coach" for any given team for a season or two, and that coach will get fired. it's unbelievable. These past 5 years, i aint never seen coaches get fired so often in the NBA

I mean, they made the ecf. Had them playing with some fire. To go from Thibs to Mike Brown is too extreme.

yeah, he shouldnt have been fired

coach takes u to the conf finals, something the Knicks haven't done since the 90s. Then they fire the coach afterwards. :unimpressed:

but people on social media have been saying fire him for 2 seasons, so i guess the GM had to do it, since randoms on Twitter were crying to do so. :manny:

Pistons/Celtics was fire. Those two + PHI are the three teams i'm hoping are reasonably "healthy" come playoff time because they provide the most intrigue.

I gave up on CLE before the season started whereas NYK was my preseason pick to win the East... so on one had it's better they (and CLE) crater now before the trade deadline but on the other hand get yall shyt together, cotdamn.

Them Wemby matchups almost makes you forget that Chet is nice in his own right. He's a year younger than Evan Mobley but averages the same points and rebounds while taking 2-less shots and playing 4-less minutes.

Ofc the issue with Chet is his game is like Anthony Davis; they're at their best finishing plays, not facilitating or creating, which means their offensive dominance is contingent on the collective IQ of their teammates giving concerted multiple effort attempts to look for them in a possession. And that just doesn't always happen consistently, which leads to stretches where they appear invisible on offense.

Wemby dealt with that too actually, more-so the previous two years. He'll be guarded soundly in his first effort to get open but will get himself wide open in the 2nd or 3rd effort but by then his teammates got some other shyt in mind, going yolo jackin up some shyt.

This, opposed to Jokic, Embiid, Giannis where their playstyles or personalities dictate that even the most dumbass teammate has no choice but to give them the ball at start of the possession and figure things out afterwards.

He does deserve it, he's been great and also credit to the coach for getting his team playing hard. It's also a bad look for Cavs/Knicks for being so poor. Pistons are an interesting team to me, clearly the best RG season team in the East but we will see how the playoffs are for rest of the guys outside Cade.

Pistons are an amazing story but I still feel like they’re missing another piece on offense. Won’t hinder them in the regular season but when the playoffs get here, who can be a reliable 2nd option? Duren should be an all star imo but I’m not convinced he’s that guy right now

As much as I'd like a reliable 2nd option next to Cade, I don't think it's as simple as that with them. It may sound corny and a little crazy, but I think the most reliable 2nd option for them may just need their depth. They have about 4 other guys that can give you 20 on any given night, and the defensive chemistry is so great they may not want to disrupt that. I understand Trajan's dilemma. And I'm on the fence with it at this point. I don't think they should be sending a lot out to get a guy like Markannen though.

It’s not simple and unless internal development happens you’ll have to give up some key pieces to get it

Truthfully won’t know for sure until they go through this playoff run. Depth matters and the committee approach but you also need a guy that is dependable

The problem with Markkanen is Ainge will want a King’s ransom and nothing less. He’s not making a trade unless he feels like he’s finessing

the trade for JJJ is right there for them fr

perfect compliment to cade/duren - everything else that core would need is plug and play. stew out there being a studio center wasting everyone's time

It's interesting because last year, the Thunder's 2nd option was honestly their defense (points off turnovers). Their inconsistent 3rd options were (3a) JDubb and (3b) their collective spot up 3pt shooting.

Then with the Pacers, ppl get lost in the Hali injury that they forget Siakam was actually their best player... ECF-MVP and very probable Finals MVP had they won. IND's 2nd option was... often collective 3pt shot making fukkery. Shades of that 8th seed Heat team Butler took to the Finals.

So there are use cases DET can follow where a bonafinde 2nd option isn't "necessary", as they do have the suffocating defense to generate points... but they probably need 1 or 2 more premiere shooters
