IMO they are doing it the right way. They are coaching for the future and not for winning game to game. With young players you have to put them out there and let them make their mistakes and learn what brings them success as players. That comes with letting them fukk up. It's something Pop did early with Parker and Manu when people were knocking him for not just pounding it into Duncan every possession.
You let them wild out now and then as the season progresses start reeling them in and adding more discipline to their games. Or if you don't feel they are the long term fit it also lets them pad the stats to trick some other team into giving up assets.
