I beg to differ

- You rent an apartment with a 12 month lease? Why don't you just pay the value of the contract for the whole year as soon as you move in? You don't, you pay rent aka subscriptions
- You own a home, why can't you just pay full price for it the first day you move in? Oh that's right you make monthly mortgage payments aka subscriptions
- Why don't most people pay full price for a new car? Oh yeah they pay monthly lease payments or pay month car note payments aka subscriptions
- You want that new large furnace installed in your home? Why not just pay the full amount upfront? Oh yeah you're gonna get financing and monthly payments aka subscriptions

Companies are the ones who create products and make it easier for the customer to purchase that improves the quality of their lives. You mad about how the company is run and their shareholders, create a product yourself

For some reason society wants to downplay the Creators, Producers, Builders, Inventors, Implementors, etc... It's weird to me
Wrong… subscriptions don’t lead to ownership of a product. It doesn’t matter how long I pay for Office 365, I’ll never own a copy of the software and the moment I stop paying I lose access. I pay a mortgage which will eventually lead to complete ownership of the property or cash based on earned equity if decide to sell it. Regardless, I also didn’t say that ALL subscriptions are bad. I have no problem with paying for a Netflix subscription. It provides a service that I want with content that I like. And the moment they don’t, I’ll cancel my subscription.

Furthermore, I don’t have to create a product myself when I can can just chose to use a different service/product that aligns with what I want. And eventually (if it hasn’t already happened) somebody is going to try make their service subscription based and a large amount of people are just gonna say F that, and go to a competitor that doesn’t do it. But then again, corporations like to work together to force the consumers hand, so maybe it won’t happen.

No competitor is going to make a one time payment product that competes with a subscription model outright. That one time product would have to be a customer acquisition strategy so that they can later offer subscriptions for them to make money in the long run.

lots of broke cheap boys in here, that's tying to ball on a budget.

you want to type something up every computer that you buy comes with some form of free notepad or go to the library
you want to watch a movie/album/videogame, go out and buy the movie
you want a house, you can pay it off in full
you want a car you can buy it in full
Local tv channels are free

some of yall just want to sit on your ass and think everything good in life your entitled to. Man when i was a kid i would have gone crazy with the subscription services they have cause i had to buy every dvd, game or album i wanted to listen to.

fukk up....im 99.99% sure i got more money than you

I ran into this EXACT issue with microsoft office on my macbook when I was trying to upgrade it from the previous version I PAID for.

I was able to get around this by using my work email address to install office 365 for free. if I didn't have that, I probably would be using google docs or open office.

yep,,

im still Baffled about cnn plus :dwillhuh: why and who would subs

CNN has finally revealed details about pricing for its forthcoming CNN Plus streaming service. Those who subscribe in the first four weeks of CNN Plus launch will pay $2.99 a month, a 50 percent discount off the regular $5.99 per month / $59.99 per year subscription price.
That shyt is stupid, who would want that? It’s not like original programming and movies. It’s just the news.

:mindblown:

It’s so baffling to me that the original point of premium cable and streaming services was so you didn’t have to watch commercials. Now you can’t even pause the goddamn show on streaming without the screensaver showing ads while you run to the kitchen to get popcorn or whatever.

Or they just have a different business model that doesn’t require a subscription for basic services. I have no qualms using Google Docs or Google Sheets. So I had no issue transitioning to them when Microsoft started offering Office 365 as the primary product/service. For years I used the free version of Pandora before deciding it was worth it to switch to Spotify because I was buying less physical music and because of the convenience of having my library on my phone without having to continuously download music.

The fukk is youtube red

is that the porn version
YouTube Red/Premium is the best.

For $10, you get a sub to youtube music which is the same as Spotify or apple music. And on top of that you get YouTube Red/Premium. I can't imagine watching a podcast or game and getting a random ad stop the video

Good point with office 365 and google docs but other than that what other basic service would make business sense to be a one time payment?

Golden age of internet piracy pt 2

These sub services will get to a point where it ain't worth it and neguz content to just 'find' their content else where. The market speaks loud and clear. Turn everything into a subscription, don't raise wages, what do you expect people to do?

It’s free cause they get to sell your info to advertisers. You have to create a gmail account to use google docs. Google makes billions from ads so giving you a free valuable service or irresistible offer is a way to get you in their front end funnel.
