Good point with office 365 and google docs but other than that what other basic service would make business sense to be a one time payment?
Well first, I don’t think one-time payment is going to work for streaming media as you’re essentially paying for ongoing access to newly released products like music, television episodes and movies. They keep incurring new costs for the same access, so we will too.
But looking ahead, If they start trying to push car features like GPS, Push to start and heated seats as subscription based services, I’d be pretty confident that
some car makers (likely non-luxury automakers) will market paying a one-time fee for these services up front. Either that or they’ll partner with services outside the car that consumers are already paying for and allow seamless integration… see Apple Carplay. And I’d bet that some people would avoid those cars with subscription services the same way some people don’t get luxury vehicles due to the cost of maintenance.
