Rap in '13 is lacking something. I cant pinpoint it.

He molded their image, wrote their raps, produced their songs, and you being from Philly should know it was right on the heels of what Michael Bivens already started with Another Bad Creation.

'Found them at the mall' and 'was handed their demo' was like the go to move in the 90s how people supposedly got discovered. Vanilla Ice was just 'stumbled upon' too.

they were like 10 years old when they got on dog. what do you expect?

he didn't even say they handed him their demo or spit for him at the mall.he just said they showed up to an autograph signing for that group he was working with before them(forgot their name). he said they looked like they rapped, sung or danced, which is true. he didn't try to give some phoney story about how they shut down the mall cypher or nothing like that. lol. to this very day, you know how many times Ive been pulled to the side because people thought that I rapped?

I mean, they could've lied about that chit too, but that's nothing to brag about as an artist so I don't see the point.

Worst era of all time. Fans are pretty weak, do not care about the artistic elements.

:whoo: when you consider the south is on top with its jungle music.

The point is that this idea the industry thinks they can create artists and make stars is old. That isn't something new.

I might even say that the Internet does a much better job of uncovering rappers past and spreading it around than before. Vanilla Ice should have got the Riff Raff treatment when they exposed him for creating this whole persona to become a rapper slash character.

1. Social media
2. Kids have gotten softer. Look at cyber bullying. In my day if you offed yourself because someone called you a name over the internet, you would be considered weak as fukk. Nowadays it's the norm.
Sit your weak ass down somewhere.

In every one of these threads one you lame internet nerds come in here talking about how tough some other dudes were back in the day

im just saying that we're talking about 2 different animals. kriss kross was a novelty act, molded by their producer/ghostwriter(s). either you rocked with it or you didn't.

as opposed to today where the industry tries to force-feed a bunch of lames as kings. 2 completely different animals. and that's the main problem today. the grassroots and organic come-ups have been eliminated. and hip-hop is a grassroots/organic music, so its only right that this chit is drowning.

I admit, I should've been more descriptive with my initial statement.

Back then you could tell where a artist was from by the way they rapped.

this/

nowadays shyt is all the same...ASAP sounds like he from Houston and dresses like a woman fresh off Paris Fashion Week..Drake could easily be from Miami and spent summers in Houston growing up...I think the reason why Kendrick received a good response is that not only was his style/sound original but his CONTENT was original..he was telling a story from his block/perspective....nowadays its just ...club song....girl song....posse song with the SAME ppl Rick Ross/Drake/French Montana/Nicki Minaj

Like Jadakiss said..nowadays if you can get the kids doing this

Lol at Rock music being hott last year. :smh: Maybe Babel(Mumford and Sons) and Black Keys, but bands like "Fun" and "Goyte" are being classified as rock music when it's everything but.

This is the hottest "rock" song in the country right now.

While I love this track, this isn't "rock" music.
