nelly has always been garbage to me.. he never fell off because he was never hot.. if you listened to that BS back in the day and dont like it now.. its because you found out you used to be a lil bytch..

CAM Clearly is not as good as he used to be.. anyone who is a fan and has been a fan can tell the difference between SDE CAM and lazy cam of today...

Even if they dont lose their skillset, they still make garbage ass songs.

Can ludacris rap like he used to? Probably so.
But whats the real reason I dont listen to him? Is it because I "matured" or is it cuz hes making pop music wit justin beiber and in music video shakin glow sticks with his shirt off? :stopitslime:

Lets be very clear, Jay Z is the biggest dikk rider and style-biter of any GOAT rapper. "He love the attention."

there's a difference between putting out bad albums, and losing your technical skill. most rappers, after a few albums, usually just don't care anymore. you can always tell someone who takes awhile to write their rhymes, vs the abc rhymers that could do a whole song in like 5 mins. back in the day, you would put all of your time into a debut, cause you knew it was the only chance that you may get. now, they just don't care. you can put out music anyway possible and not even have to have talent.

As far as "touch my soul", that's exactly what I mean. To bm, rap is just entertainment now and if that entertainment coincides with some real stuff that I agree with then :salute:, but I don't have to agree with or feel everything to enjoy it or even think that's its great. I'm now more likely to listen to something that is well-crafted and entertaining that is subtle than something that goes in-depth but is a chore to listen to. I realized that at some point last year because there are things I complain about now that I never would've care about in middle school or throughout most of my teenage years. Production, and sometimes even things like flow and mic presence were secondary. I used to even be able to listen to Immortal Technique and he sucks as as an emcee from a technical standpoint. But I guess I'm no longer a "lifer" so to speak. I used to live hip-hop, but not anymore. It doesn't get me through the day anymore from the perspective of directly reflecting to what I see everyday in life or the questions I ask. I remember hearing, "white jesus....POISON" while listening to Stillmatic at 12 years old and I had just been thinking about those things and I was like . My college application essay (one of them) was a flip of a lot of hip-hop lines and concepts.

But it no longer fills a void. I think as far as rappers falling off, sometimes it's just that we've seen this story before. But other times it's unrealistic expectations and some of it is that these rappers aren't quite as good as they used to be (those older albums are often better). But if what they were doing was brand new, we'd be :ohh:

Do you find the shyt shyt you overlooked back then is actually the dopest? I listen to alot of things now that I hated 10 years ago.

**snorts 34seconds***

Listeners do not mature, they become musically institutionalized(think a prisoner doing 45yrs hard time and he gets free), and scared of change.

honestly there is more truth in this than what the OP said in the 1st post of this thread..thats what i was trying to say earlier...i am an exception to this because i love hiphop so much.. i listen to everything..the average rap/hiphop fan does not know as much about music as me.. and prolly alot of you feel the same way... if you dont.. you might be one of the ones who still thinks DMX drops music
