Hold the gun at eye level, I ain't afraid of conflict
I let the nine rip, nikka say "hi" to the devil
I blind with the bezel, I'm in line with the ghetto
What y'all nikka afraid of my mind or the metal
nikkas tryna subtract my life, my mathematics is precise
I carry the 9, so fukking with me just ain't the answer

I just can't lose when I was young I was like Fresh
Poppa raised me to chess moves

And though your gone I'm not bitter you left me prepared
We got divided by the years, but I got it from here
Don't sweat that, sounds bump from Marcy to Lefrak
To that project in DC where my man caught his death at
Over my years I've seen Rooks get tooken by the Knight

Lose they Crown by tryna defend a Queen
Checkmate, in 4 moves the Bobby Fischer of rap with raw moves
In a time where we all move

Lets face it: either your dough chasing or basing
Lacing, crack's got you feelin' strong like Mason

Careful, any infiltration I'm leaving nikkas
Leaking more than just information

Lupe

But it wasn't easy to crack it, we wasn't fly
Had to get it off the ground pedaling
E.T. was in the basket,
now it's sick
1st and 5th bought to come up like the last bullet in the clip
Click, a few didn't survive
It triggered something inside
that gave me power, got a grip
Like the floor of the shower
, now I hit
Anything that I set my sights on, no lights on
Silence is my 5th plead the 5th

I don't need a Japanese flag, Vash the Stampede of hip-hop, straight from the hip
Bang, no matter how the enemy bolsters I'm going to hold us down like the holdsters right up on my shoulders
Clappers, why don't you wait some more
Fire, it ain't safe no more
Cocksuckers pull backwards
I pull faster it's master

I haven't turned into guns like MegaTron

You just brushed upon the upper echelon
Gone

in the movie E.T, by putting ET in the basket of a bike, the kid managed to fly. Literally, got of the ground pedaling.

Lupe "Failure"

[Intro: Lupe Fiasco]
Yeah, What up, Chi-Town, New York City
Philly, Atlanta, Virginia
They said it was coming back around man
Back to the lyrics man
Come back to people like me, I say..

[Verse 1: Lupe Fiasco]
It's mean, soldiers
Now let me put the streets down like steamrollers
With the CATS that push

40 oz. through the hood like King Cobras
See we sling soda
Cause the extra four in the split is mixed
It's really thirty-six

Used to buy toasters and clips
You can tighten your circle or boa constrict
While you was lighting your purple, I was over the scripts
See, I could walk the walk, couldn't really talk the talk
Had to get my talk to properly explain my walk
Cause this lack in talk had my walk looking off

Now I'm over the limp
Watch how they mugs drop when they see my Verbal's able
That's the Usual

When I was po' I was low
Now me and my Chaps cop Purple Label
It's Ralph Lauren on the rap laureate
nikkas brown nose, they are like Alf to him

Runners at Interscope are not as Stoute as him
Please don't Interscope
It's gonna be a whole lot of Iovine and respirating

If I lean out this window with Irene
nikkas as tall as Yao Ming
With L-U-P-Emperor
Is the foundation's, I-beams and the antennas

It's so serious every time I write my John Hancock like
Could damn near see Detroit, I see you

nikkas is scared of heights
This is Saran Wrap and aluminum foil
Some potpourri, a little machine oil

I stack my paper and throw off my scents
This is top floor, better look out below
Pennies from heaven is the same as a semi from the second
And I reign supreme
Turn your umbrellas upside down
Did you even catch the change in theme

This is gangsta man

All first verse :why::whoo:

Yo when i heard this, i was like REWIND!!!! :blessed::whoo::whoo:This shyt had me sold. I was officially a Lupe fan when this and the Food & Liquor leaked album dropped. This was the second song i ever heard from him so i was amazed breh. :wow:

Nas has lyrics that are double meaning just because they are open to different interpretations. Even if unintentional by Nas.

Like "beyond the walls of intelligence life is defined" from NY State of Mind.
I take from that life's biggest lessons occur outside of formal education and college etc.

Method man and are in the poll because their lyrics particularly in the mid 90s had 5% Nation references in them not everybody was able to peep it though.

That right there is flawless, man. The scents/cents, flow/floor, reign/rain, change/change double meanings are some next level shyt. He's almost mocking the listener at that point. Like I just threw these "pennies" that "rain" supreme and told you to turn your umbrella upside down, did you even catch the CHANGE in theme"... fukk.

Like dude said, that's just the first verse of the damn song!

Lupe's three best songs like this IMO, are these:

Also, Lupe changing his verses on Pressure (the original was called Trials and Tribulations) and still washing Hov was special. Wordplay is dope as fukk on this one.

Damn, no idea how I forgot this one... but what separates Lupe from just your average double entendre spitter is that he can weave themes into whole songs and come full circle to where it doesn't sound forced or like he's trying to hard. The "stealing" and "boxing" themes being tied together like this was masterful, man. shyt like this is why I consider him to be the GOAT.

Californ-i-a by way of BK
"I break down the elements of rocking a mic cable Like a periodical table
Subject matter, (1) production (2), delivery (3)
With the collection of all three, theoretically
E = emcee squared but there's a sucka born every minute, it appears
That's 1,440 per day, 525,600 redundant rappers a year
(complex concepts)
And I'm positive as protons, nikkas won't comprehend John
So fukk Bone, I'm bad to the chromosome
All 46 that dwell in each somatic cell
Could raise more hell, than Darryl, Jo, Jason or Russell
Exercise my mind and turn fat/phat tracks to muscle
I come from every angle like 90 degrees in diameter
The Hemis chemist, isolating isotopes under microscopes
I bioengineer, let your lens focus
Through osmosis, just standing next to me I thought you knew"

Ras wrote that in 1993. When I first heard that shyt, I had to turn off my computer. nikka said "I'm positive as Protons nikkas won't comprehend John" nikka...
