Why post this? Why did you even read it? Smh. It was probably written by some nobody cracker who started liking hip hop when Eminem came out.

Eh...a lot of rap purists hated on IWW for years. This isn't a white thing. Q-Tip told Steve Stoute that the album would destroy Nas' career.

I was nervous all the time. While I was mastering, Q-Tip said to me, “You’re killing his career.” Q-Tip [had a big role on Illmatic] but he didn’t produce on It Was Written. Nas is an artist’s artist. My whole thing was I didn’t want him to end up being like Kool G Rap.

if i ruled the world did not exist now??

I know NY'ers don't believe it, but the world extends beyond Hot 97's antenna radius
I can't speak for what you remember locally, but If I Ruled the World and Street Dreams had national certifications as singles and regular video rotations on BET & MTV televised nationally that showed they got more play than anything on RD :yeshrug:

Surprised it took 30 posts to bring up If I Ruled The World; I'm floored at the revisionist history here. People really gonna forget that this song was a nationwide-hit (he received his first Grammy nod for this song specifically), that IWW is Nas' highest selling album, and the fact that IWW brought Nas to the mainstream? There was huge buzz for I Am because of the success of IWW, not because backpackers wanted to see if Nas was able to recover.

faded??
4 weeks no. 1 on the charts, 11 weeks in the top 20 and 34 weeks in the top 200
street dreams the original, not remix, certified gold
if i ruled the world did not exist now??
selling over 2 million in the US alone
:camby:

anyway my original point was that i find it quite funny that a jay stan would talk about revising history when we know what jay did to make RD considered a classic. at least nas never campaigned to get IWW looked at in a different light. IWW being looked at differently happened without nas trying to sway public opinion.

:dead:

Homeboy was bugging with that post. IWW went gold in a week, while it took RD a year to go gold.

Steve Flash Juan was exposed by Dipset stans on SOHH as a white dude from Iowa or somewhere Midwest. Dude looked like Ron Swanson from Parks & Rec....thread was classic until he got the administrator to delete it:russ:

Not really sure what kind of exposure that is, as a lot of his reviews he lets you know he's white, from Iowa, and a Dipset stan :mjlol::mjlol:
