Two, The Raptors given their track record of being a choker lead choker team is not a free agent destination. A year trying to convince Kawhi to stay and also a shot at the Finals is worth a lot more than having a run of the mill team with out anything to look forward to by keeping Derozan.

Exactly and if by some heroic miracle you make the finals and even win a game or two all of a sudden you’re telling Kawhi something totally different, everyone’s off the books in 19-20 so you start looking a lot more attractive. Going to the finals never hurt a franchise the only team that hasn’t recovered from a finals L is the Orlando Magic and even then that was historic levels of mismanagement. The Nets maybe as well but they went to 2 straight which to me is fantastic.
