I rate Nashville an 8.5. My siblings and I own property near Fisk and I go down to visit and check up on things if not every month, every other month. Sister graduated from Fisk and brothers attended Vandy. Girlfriend attended Meharry. I’m the only one that didn’t go to school in Nashville.
Siblings use to stay in the Gulch but bought a house in East Nashville which is super trendy right now.
Nashville has a good art scene, craft beer scene, culinary scene, and music scene. Still relatively small that although traffic gets heavy, it still hasn’t taken me longer than 20 minutes to get anywhere.
Nashville has three HBCUs all within the city. Fisk, Tennessee State, and Meharry. Because of this it has a sizable educated middle class black community, moreso than even Memphis. A number of black business are around the city as well.
Nashville is located near the “Bourbon Trail” for any whiskey enthusiast and is close to Atlanta, Louisville, Birmingham and Memphis.
Real estate market is some of the hottest in the country right now because demand has been through the roof.
People are some of the nicest I’ve met, both whites and blacks. The whites have been nothing but gracious in my interactions with them and the black folks are fraternal.
I do a lot when I go down. My brothers are in a historic black shooting club so I go out and hunt with them. Also, we do hiking and kayaking right outside the city. Bar hopping is fun around Vandy and 12South and the PAWGs are nice. Always hit up the WKND and even Limelight sometimes (they soul food on Thursdays or Fridays be hittin although some folks say you shouldn’t eat it). Titans and Predator games are always fun.
If I moved to the south full-time Nashville would be a top contender along with New Orleans and Charleston.
