Not only would Aaliyah never existed without Janet, Janet was still pumping out hits at the same time Aaliyah was. Bigger hits at that

During Aaliyah’s prime, together again, I get so lonely, what’s it gonna be were way bigger hits than Aaliyah has ever dropped.

There’s nothing Aaliyah ranks higher than Janet in, not albums, not hit songs, not performance,not dancing, and vocals is a wash.

As long as Whitney is at the top that's all that matters.
@Preacher
Can you add Tamia, Teedra Moses, Yummy Bingham, Nicole Wray and Cheri Dennis?

I already got Tamia queued up. Teedra has been suggested and is on the list.

I only heard one song from Yummy and that was on Lupe Fiasco's mixtape. I don't know if that thread would do well.
Same with Nicole Wray.
I'm shocked you even remember Cheri Dennis :russ: I remember her one song that came out when I was in school. You a real music head:salute:

Idk if a thread on her would do any well either. You see how nikkas coming at my neck for a Mya thread and she was a certified star. :deadrose:

You'd be hard pressed to find bigger hits in the 90's than Aaliyah's 4 Page Letter and One in a Million. These were 2 of the 90's most defining hits. Lets not disrespect now.:comeon:

I’m confused by your post, What I posted were facts and not disrespect. We are comparing Janet and Aaliyah. I love those songs you mentioned but the fact is the songs I posted from Janet were released during Aaliyah’s prime and all were bigger and charted higher than anything Aaliyah has ever released. And no smilie will change that

Yeah I disagreed with that one too. Vocals take precedent over everything else but I'm not sure if Aaliyah is a better singer than Janet.

@Nicole0416 :jbhmm:What you think ?
Aaliyah... Janet is overrated. Janet got the push because of MJ and for doing crossover /mainstream music.

Yummy kinda reminds me of Lil Mo but her voice is a little higher. How do you think a thread on Gina Thompson would do?

Vocally
Ciara
Janet
Aaliyah
Mya are the same person
Ciara is trash and her music all sounds the same. She could offset her music by dancing, is what made her stand out. Mya couldn’t have a real hit if her life depended on it, even with the collabos. Janet is adaptable to white and black audiences, same category as Beyoncé with the “safe” sounding music and mainstream nods. I put Mya and Christina Milian in the same category. Aaliyah >>>>>>
Final verdict.

I'm saying your point that those Janet songs were way bigger than any of Aaliyah songs are not correct. I know Janet may have charted higher, but in my adult life, I've heard those 2 Aaliyah songs more than any of those Janet songs.

Janet is a pop tart-charter. Aaliyah was more soulful/more grounded and in tune with what the block wanted to hear.
Janet wasn't like Beyonce though. Not necessarily. She was topping the charts with straight R&B. That's the Way Love Goes, Anytime Anyplace, I Get Lonely, All For You. Janet was only a "pop tart" singer in the 80's.
