Its whichever you choose.Question- are we basing this strictly off vocals? Or are we also taking into account impact and catalog?Because if the latter, Janet should be way higher.

People are familiar with Chante. She has had a few hit songs and duetsNah. I understand what you mean but Ledisi is not a mainstream widely known artist. Trust me,I know who she is and her ability as a singer. But a thread on her wouldn't do numbers. I have to take that into consideration. I know a large majority of the voters would be unfamiliar with her work. You saw how that Lisa Fischer thread went. Didn't even make it passed 1 page.

Is this only focusing on the R&B sound then? Well if Adele and Ariana are on here, then I guess not. So I'm going to suggest Celine Dion. I haven't read all the other pages, so someone may have already recommended her. And I know she has a lot of carbon copy traits. Still, she is a highly accomplished artist who is often paired with Whitney and Mariah. So I'd be interesting to see if the brehs/brehettes also consider her elite.
I feel you. Makes a lot of sense. That's why I almost didn't recommend her, but ultimately figured that I might as well. There prolly would be an uprising. lolI've been debating on whether or not I'd add Celine on here. Ariana and Adele can pass because they sing/appropriate black culture like R&B. Therefore, more people would be familiar with their work. As for Celine, I know who she is and I know a few of her songs but I never actively listened to her like that because she wasn't played on black radio or on black tv stations while I was growing up.
So I'm not sure if the coli would be too familiar with her work thus leading to a failed thread and a tag from the breh @YaThreadFloppedB!
