Work with me brehs. I'm trying to keep our minds occupied while Nasir
us up some more shyt. We'll be
lovely come July 17th. For the time being, let's continue the trend of re-visiting old Nas.
You know the story.
After "It Was Written," Nas had plans to create a historic double-disc album, entitled "I Am...The Autobiography," that would be added to the pantheon of other great double-disc albums--"LAD" and "AEOM," for example. Even though it is unclear that the project was ever completed, rumor has it that it got so far that The Source staff heard some of it and prepared to give it 4.5 mics.
Unfortunately, but fortunately
, Napster hit. His shyt leaked and part of the album was bootlegged heavily. Instead of moving forward with his original vision, he scrapped the album and recorded two different albums: "I Am..." (released April 1999) and "Nastradamus" (released November 1999). Some of the shyt he recorded for the double album was put on these records, some on The Lost Tapes, and some of the shyt remains unreleased.
Instead of reminiscing on what could've been (
), our goal is to recreate a single-disc classic that should've been: "I Am...Nastradamus."
You are the Executive Producer for this record. Pick 15 songs (about the average amount for each of his albums) from his 1998-1999 recording period to create this record.
The following is a summary of what I believe were all the songs from the "I Am..." and "Nastradamus" recording sessions--46 songs total (Let me know if I missed anything and I'll update this list):
"I Am..." Intro (Feat. Jungle)

Pick your 15. And let everyone know which 5 records would be your top 5. Your 3 singles? The 3 that barely made the cut? The 3 that almost made the record but were left in the vault? How you think the record would've changed Nas's career? Anything else you want to say about your record and what it would've done for Nas's legacy?
