The moon has 1/3 (?) the gravity on earth and no atmosphere. Because of that getting out of orbit is much easier. So basically they only needed 1/3 of the thrust to get off the planet as opposed to earth where you would need rockets and rocket boosters just to escape orbitHow did they blast off

The math needed is actually not that difficult you can do it with 500 year old Newtonian physics it’s the engineering and safety that makes it difficult. In short, they knew it could be done Science is also not preciseIn a science that has to be 1000000000% precise before...emphasis on before going to the moon...how were they able to perfectly calculate the right amount of everything they needed to be successful in a place that had never been visited before??
The space shuttle its self didn't land on the moon. A lunar module lowered them to the moon.
