First off I actually thought for the most part the finals were officiated fairly with one or two bad calls. IMO this the Heat first legit title. but I digress

all these anaylsts talking about ginobili is a hofamer, how is he not just a reckless ass sixth man? We putting a nikka slightly better then JR Smith int he hall now? If he didnt win a title this wouldnt even be a discussion. Now I know the basketball hall of fame lets everyone in like a fukkin community college, chirs rock voice, and they gonna bring up his forgein numbers but foh this nikka was just a nice bench player in the nba, he does this on a non title winning team hes not close.

Further proof judging players by titles is asinine.

Who cares.

Does he still not have an Olympic Medal, 3 rings, various awards and even some pretty good stats. Pioneered the Eurostep too.

Theres a certain legacy attached to Manu and his playing style though. Something that makes him memorable whether its the way he played so recklessly, the way he used to frustrate defenses for some odd reason and how he was clutch. He's had that "nikka you love to hate" thing going for him.

He's "slightly better than JR Smith now?"

BASKETBALL Hall of Fame. His Euro career was decorated. That gold medal in '04 would be a deal breaker. If it was JUST the NBA career, I'd agree (and I think he's a borderline guy anyway), but his overseas resume is big. If Arvydas Sabonis can get in, so can Manu.

When JR Smith attains the resume Manu has, then you can compare the two.

hey gonna bring up his forgein numbers but foh it kills my argument

The other side, otherwise
You can't compare the Manu we saw in these playoffs to the player he's been throughout his career - dude is in his upper 30's and an analyst gig away from retirement. After viewing the thread title I kind of doubt you saw this dude play when he was in his prime.

In what galaxy is Manu a borderline HOF? Yao Ming's not even borderline, and he has a much better chance @ the Hall than Ginobili. And since it's the Basketball HOF, does Manu make it just off his Euro career alone? :ohhh: Better yet, does he make the Basketball HOF if his career was spent in New Orleans for instance? :ohhh:

If it was just based off NBA accomplishments he probably wouldn't get in, but they factor in international career and Olympics into all that. Combine that with three rings and being a clutch player in his prime makes Manu a hall of famer. Same reason why Pau and Tony Parker will be hall of famers one day.

Comparin' Gasol and Parker's HOF resumes to Ginobili's is just flat-out disrespectful IMHO

Like I said, he's borderline. If it were me, I'd probably not put him in, but he'd get in over Yao. Yao has a better individual NBA resume, but Manu has a much better Int'l body of work, so all things considered, Manu had a better career (injuries straight up robbed Yao)

Parker will get in, but if Parker goes, it's exclusively off of his NBA career. His Int'l career is nothing to write home about. Remember he came here at 19.

Pau, kinda the same thing. His Euroleague career prior to the NBA wasn't that big. He was a big prospect. His time with the Spanish National Team will make an impact, but if he goes, it's mostly due to the NBA part.

Parker still plays in France in the offseason if im not mistaken.
