i just listened to a few tracks...how did this cornball get a kanye beat and get to work with 9th wonder....what a waste of good beatsHot Karl was a 00s era indie white rapper that never got on.
Had some hot tracks produced by 9th Wonder. I thought he was black til I saw his picture...
One of the biggest problems with that era was the paper thin production and wack/weak drums. Really don't see how dudes could grow up listening to Pete Rock and then make shyt like that...
I don't know if that sort is still around on other boards, or if they stopped listening to rap altogether, but i'm glad I don't encounter them here.
Its garbage now because it was garbage back then too
Cold Vein and Deadringer were classics and there was some scattered stuff that was alright, but overall it was trash
There was underground Hip Hop like Doom, then there was this shyt which was backpack trash
and they would ALWAYS make those struggle claims to validate their wack ass non-hip hop. "Yo I grew up on BDP and DJ Premier. That's why I make shyt tracks with garbage voices and nonexistant drums for exclusively white nerds."
I've said this before, but 2000s was the death of hip hop in multiple ways, not just the mainstream. The underground became unlistenable after a certain point.
I'd say the vast majority stopped listening to rap. And it's expected. They were never hip hop fans like that. They sure loved to pretend though.
Cold Vein was and still is trash to me.
This is the only Can Ox track I've ever played repeatedly:
I've never heard Deadringer though I know about rjd2. worth checking out?
Anticon was str8![]()
Sage francis has a great discography that I still visit from time to time
One of the most underrated wordsmiths in hip-hop
Who the fukk is hot Karl?
