Anmd Def Jex fell off after 2003...

:snoop:

right around the time this dropped.
I'd say about 05. 06 and beyond was really when that whole movement started losing steam.

I really tried to convince myself that Cage sobering up on Hells Winter was anything but boring :beli:

I look at him like "makeshift patriot?":why:

He got in an old toyota pickup. My boy's like yea thats my cousin.

I was like :dwillhuh:

Also, Copywrite not nerdy, but he participate in nerdy shyt :mjlol:

I remember he had a cut on NBA Live 03 or one of those early 2000 years. White boy kinda went in but it almost paved the way for raps that are provided to us by Riff Raff now :francis:

"I'm Michael Bibby with a little dash of Steve Nash" :mjlol:

I had no idea who Hot Karl was until you posted that. I'll never forget being forced to endure those struggle bars.

Camu Tao (R.I.P) is the guy who beat Copy down lol. I can't remember what it was about. I think it was outside Scribble Jam. I do remember a lot of people disliking Copy on a personal level at the time.

I remember that Cruise Control mixtape being pretty good. It had one of my favourite dilla beats (that's a wrap). If he had a better voice Copywrite could have really been something IMO. His first album was kinda wack though. I don't think he suits RJD2s production at all.

From 2000-2003 an epic onslaught of nerdy pretentious elitist white rappers came out of the woodwork and managed to take hip-hop into some of it's worst years ever...

I'm talking about
Sage Francis
Dose One
Anticon
Deep Puddle Dynamics
clouddead
Copywrite
Aesop Rock
MC Paul Barman
Hot Karl

And many others.

I tried listening to their stuff again a couple of weeks ago and just could not do it....

:snoop:
Only cacs were bigging up that garbage. I tuned out of the underground when it became saturated with nerds raping about raping

But that was more of the east coast underground. The west had groups that were still decent and underground like dilated peoples, madlib and slum village in the Midwest and their whole sound and affiliates. Little brother etc. These were dope indie acts that followed in the roots of the good parts of the underground movement that preceded from cats like Mos def and Talib, pharoahe... The other side of it was shyt like company flow, Aesop rock etc was utter trash to me.

Its garbage now because it was garbage back then too

Cold Vein and Deadringer were classics and there was some scattered stuff that was alright, but overall it was trash

There was underground Hip Hop like Doom, then there was this shyt which was backpack trash

:camby:mf doom was trash too, his beats were ass and he didn't make sense most of the time he rapped.

i never fukked with any of that shyt you posted op. they seemed bland and soulless. like these guys were trying way too hard to be anticommercial to the point where they basically sounded a certain way on purpose. "we're not gonna sound like jay-z so we're gonna sound as boring as possible over a half assed beat talking about everything that is the exact opposite of the streets, the drugs and etc". kayne west luckily CHANGED that. he basically understood that you can basically make great music without selling out the content or boring people. they should thank him for actually showing them how it's done. these dudes could have blown up too. that's what's funny.

Def Jux had some dope shyt in that time period i thought - Murs and 9th, Mr Lif, The Perceptionists, Aesop (none shall pass) and el p

Brother Ali and the odd Atmosphere joint on Rhymesayers i liked, not checked much else though,

Don't even know who was on Anticon. I agree though ughh elitist Stanleys are the worst.

Have bad taste, brehs

no, mf doom was and still is trash. his beats were boring as fukk and on top of that, his voice, his flow and etc were terrible. i've heard a good portion of dude's shyt 10 years ago because my older brother was a fan and boy oh boy, that shyt was trash. dude fukking rapped in the booth with his fukking mask on? :snoop: it would have helped a little. nobody but the damn engineer is gonna see him rap so why he had to have it on. it sounds like he was talking with a damn blanket on his face and dude sounded like he was waking up too. i can't...... dude literally fukked up that de la soul cocaine flow up. made no goddamn sense.
