Safe enough for him to get rich off them
every frat boy in america was saying 'fukk yo couch' man. dave chappelle was the first modern black comedian where random white people at work would be talking about him man, to be fair it was probably mostly from his show . his style of comedy is more appealing to white people and hence why burress and carmicheal are damn near carbon copies and have mostly white fanbases
I wouldn't say those guys are carbon copies lol. These dude try to do what Chappelle did but they ain't got it.

Breh that was because of his show.

We gonna act like white folks didn't watch redd foxx on sanford and son and quote about heart attacks and calling folks dummy?

Yet Redd stand up comedy was so raunchy and dirty back in the day they didn't even think he would be able to do tv.

Redd was so loved by white folks that he was one of first black comedians to do vegas. He was loved so much that he had a headliner show there after san ford and son.

Same with Richard Pryor who would do saturday night live with 5 and 10 second delays cause he cursed so much. This a brotha where he did the whole dead honky word association skit with Chevy Chase and white folks loved it.

Richard pryor a man that had a hit TV show and walked away from it all because he couldn't take dealing with the network telling him what was funny.

Redd and Richard was a black and real as hell yet white folks quoted them and loved them.

Chapelle is like them, martin and eddie in which his talent, being on tv and movies allowed him to cross over. Just like them he did not change his style to cross over.

And if it ain't that then it's Tyler Perry presents Big Mama done turned a pot of collard greens over on the stove again or some bullshyt church romance movie.

African American film needs a RE-working altogether but nothing will ever top the 70s-90s :lawd:

True and social issues are almost never talked about today. Even they even discuss it.........it is in passing with a 10 minute segment.

But that is for all shows even the white ones.

Think about this the jeffersons and good times even dealt with the panthers, riots, murder of Medger Evans, MLK and Malcolm X.

Not just one episode but many episodes.

Can't say the same for the shyt on tv now.

:whoa: whoa!! wasn't shyt cac safe about Chapelle
You would think turning down 30 mill was "keeping it real" enough for these nikkaz. Dude even told y'all he walked away from that cash because of cacs. Yet he is cac safe.... Smh

Dave wasnt cac safe he was satire and the exact reason he wanted to stop was because some cacs didn't get the satire. They saw the stereotypical shyt on the surface only not the messages he was sending. This disconnect made him exit. Calling him cac safe is absurd.

they not witty like they used to be
its like they're scared of something

Kats trying to get that cross over money. Only a few artist can be themselves not water down their material and cross over.

Not to mention this bull shyt PC generation. Jokers be getting insulted when jokes get told. Have these jokes can't even hold a candle to the shyt these old timers said back in the day.

Can you imagine the shyt a kat like Pryor or mooney has said over the years.....come out as a young new comedian. Them dudes would have never gotten big.

Breh you bring paul money on your network show shytting on white folks and saying shyt like "don't have too much fun cause if you do white folks will take you they take everything."

You are far and I mean far from safe cac comedy if you bring Paul Mooney on your show doing skits. Trust I seen Mooney live 3 times and white folks have literally walked out.....:mjlol:

All while Mooney would call them some bytches or saying they leaving to go kidnap or kill some folks....:russ::mjlol:

Michael Che seems to strike the right balance with his conversational style and his pro black undertones. His "all buildings matter" bit is something Kevin Hart would fire his writers for even bringing to the table. As far as ignorant shyt, Lil Duval, Deray, Corey, Deon....just to name a few are still pretty cool.

Black comedy is very much alive.
Its on Instagram, youtube, and Snapchat.
(See: DC Young Fly)

Black comedians using the Kevin Hart method of social media, instead of the traditional comedy club circuit.

Its a good and bad thing.

They can produce their own videos and shyt and gather a following, but a lot of them only have to be funny for 30-90 second clips, and cannot hold their own on a stage.

The Land That Time Forgot
Comedy today is dead, in general.

From the time of Lenny Bruce and dikk Gregory, on to about the early 2000s, there
was a topic freedom during that era that no longer exists.

Richard Pryor was really the first to make "comic freedom" commercial, to almost
all audiences. "That ******'s Crazy," "Bicentennial ******" and "Is It Something I Said"
all won Grammys for Best Comedy Album.

80s Eddie Murphy and 90s Chris Rock really had no filters. Impossible to imagine
today.

D.C. Young fly is about as funny as Ebola. nikkas are funnier by accident than he is on purpose

I was inspired by that cornball Eric Andre's thread with the Instagram thots.

But back in the '80s & '90s, there used to be a ton of funny ass REAL nikka comedians like Eddie Murphy, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock, Bernie Mac, Charlie Barnett, Chris Tucker, Joe Torrey, Martin Lawrence, Michael Colyer, Cedric the Entertainer, etc. . .

Those type of comedians used to be everywhere, but now all we get is those whitewashed CAC comedians in Blackface like Key & Peele, Eric Andre, Hannibal Burress, Ron Funches, etc. . . who got a ton of CAC fans and Twitter follwers.

But I'm asking, who are the real nikkaz of today still putting it down.

I do kinda fukks with Corey Holcomb and Deon Cole, but who else is really out there these days?

Youtube/social media killed the art of comedy. And not just in one way.
