Yea. He has atleast four classic albums. Resurrection, One Day it will all make sense, Like Water For Chocolate, Be (I would add "Can I Borrow A Dollar?" to that too as five). He was actually mentioned in credible discussions in hip-hop magazines/circles back in the day but it's almost like he played that sensitive neo-soul concious rapper vibe that he put out on "The Light" (that was a huge track looking back on it now) and played it out til the wheels fell off.

Personally, I think Like Water For Chocolate was Common's last REAL album period. After that came "Electric Circus" that album was just not that great at all. "Be" came out in 2004 and that completely made people forget about that album. It was all downhill from there...Universal Mind Control might of been the nail in the coffin for the rapper Common other than some guest appearances on GOOD music.

I did not like LWFC, especially after Can I Borrow a Dollar?, Resurrection, and One Day it will All Make Sense.

Be felt like it was riding Kanye's wave. He switched us his style to be more accessible.

Yeah. I feel that. He switched up his style on Electric Circus. I honestly haven't even listened to that album in full. I remember when it came out. It had rock musician and live instruments and members of Stereolab on it. It just seemed confusing. So Be was essentially just an extension of that only it sounded good for the time. I personally wasn't really feeling it that much aside from a couple of tracks (the ones produced by Dilla).

All his best work in my opinion is in the 90s and early 00s. That's it really.

Common is a beast on the Mic. But, when you think about it Black Thought has kept it stronger for much longer, while Common tried to become a household name. I stopped messing with him after LWFC.

Don't hate on that Universal Mind Control track until you see it live. I fukking hated that song, but holy hell when he played it at Rock the Bells it was fukking disgustingly ill. His style has changed over the years though, for sure.

Black Thought and The Roots are still underated in my mind. But yeah, they held it down longer than Common for sure.

You can't just skip over The Dreamer/The Believer when talking about his career though. Album may not have sold much but as far as earning him back some respect from his core fanbase who thought he was done after he dropped Universal Mind Control, it was pretty significant.

As for his legacy, I still feel like Common has one of the greatest discographies in hip hop

Outside of Be I was pretty late on Common, although I've actually grown to appreciate his music more the older I get, and I also thought his last album was dope.

He's an artist I'll always check out when his new stuff drops, but he's definitely got a couple of weedplates in his discography.

My favourite Common albums are Be, Finding Forever and The Dreamer / The Believer. LWFC is dope too but I just haven't listened to it enough.

I haven't even listened to the bolded to be honest. I kind of lost interest in what he was putting out musically after Be.
