Realistically if Sega came out with a new console that has none of the issues the others have and had the games/graphics to match, would it sell?

No because 3rd party support wouldn’t likely be there. I would imagine some third parties would be on board but some major ones would likely sit on the sidelines or skip it entirely.

what kinda games would it have? a perfect console just sitting and collecting dust isn't really attractive to me.

Would need parity in regards to 3rd party support, exceptional exclusives, and a huge marketing splash to bring the brand back to the masses

Naw, console market is maxed out.

The current players are struggling to maintain their audience with PC/Cloud/mobile eating into their customer base.

Sega would have to squeeze people from Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft, and that just doesn’t seem possible anymore.

Lots of money has been spent by some very rich and powerful corporations trying to get into the console market and they all came to the same conclusion, that it would be a waste of money for a limited upside.

With that said i think sega has enough games and quality IP to offer a subscription/streaming service that would be very successful. Especially if they can get some genesis/saturn/dreamcast classic that were not necessarily owned by sega :ehh:

Aside from Nintendo, the other consoles still more 3rd party games than exclusives. I don't think there's any franchise Sega has, that can sell the system.

Also I think pulling their franchises away from the other three companies would do more harm than good.

While the nostalgia would be thick and a launch suite of Shenmue X, virtua fighter X, Sega rally X, panzer dragoon X, would get me to buy.. the name ain't got pull like that anymore..unless it's a wild price of 199.99 and below for a solid specd machine

People are way too entrenched in their brands. For this to be reality theyd have to literally make their own game of the decade and then make it exclusive to their next console.

Based off those name, i don't see how a Sega console could penetrate the market effectively; not without the most innovative new blockbuster IPs or getting some crazy licensing monopolies of some of the existing IPs listed above.

Nintendo has their own niche market of pixar before pixar lookin ass game characters and branding, but even then i imagine production costs are relatively lower and ofc they got their own home (overseas) market that is forever lucratively loyal to them pokemon/zelda/mario/smash bro shyts
