@StillNotSoft its a lot of old heads doin that though... and then just getting called haters

So its a catch 22

If nikkas dikkride artists dont try and the music sucks

If nikkas offer constructive criticism, artists ignore them or write them off as haters, and the music STILL sucks.

This generation can't take competition or criticism... nikkas think its fair for fans to be on their dikks just for being alive and famous :pachaha:

What the game needs is a new Pac... a new SMARTER 50.... a young nikka with the catalog and credibility to call it like it is regardless of who doesnt wanna hear it. Old nikkas cant do it cause nobody takes them seriously if theyre not dikkriding. Young nobodies cant do it cause people just take their criticisms as jealousy. A young hot nikka is impervious from dismissal.

Good point and these nikkas very well could just be average no matter what kinda motivation they get:heh:....I'm just thinkin sumbody has to be tellin them they better than they are and from their feeling of being under appreciated we know it ain't the fans.

I suppose it could just be the emcee in them that makes them feel that way:manny:....and if that's what it is I can't knock em for that bcuz its a trait I admire and is neccesary....I'm sure Cube thought he wuz as good or better than grap and chuck d,Snoop probaly thought he wuz as raw as Cube,T.I thought he wuz as good as Scarface and Jay,and these guys feel they as good or better than everybody before them.....now of course in most of their cases its delusional:russ:.....but as emcees they can't fathom they shyt don't stink,so I like the new nikkas like wale for that reason.....I don't think he ad jcole want fans to dumb down and lower they expectations,I believe as artist they really believe they shyt is as great as the greats before them and certainly they peers....the mindset I like, the actual product so far just makes them look delusional....but the mindset on a certain level u gotta like as a fan....would u rather that or for them to be on sum "I don't care who like me I'm gettin money and people buyin it:youngsabo:"?

Whatever it takes to motivate a artist is what it needs to be,hate and under appreciation seems to motivate these dudes.....Jeezy on the other hand didn't care who liked his shyt cuz people wuz buyin it,yet he manages to always put out great material and only cares about pleasin his fans....different mindsets and motivations....havin jeezys mindset obviously don't work for many artist, and wales mindset doesn't work for himself so far.....but takin on a jeezy mindset could make him worst as a artist.

I don't wanna tell a artist what they motivation should be bcuz u never know what's makin them the artist they are....but I get a lot of yalls point about the fact we have to hear about it now in this media age....plus I think what's lost on these guys is being good as the goats which is almost an impossible feat in my mind is not good enuff....you have to be GREATER,u can't make a album u think is as good as Death Certificate,MATW,illmatic,RD,....in my mind, only speakin for myself you'd have to make sumthin greater to impress me....these new artist have failed completly, though I admit they got a waaaaaay bigger challenge than 90's nikkas had....90's nikkas probaly had it easier than anybody

Truth...

Man I think blind hate would be perfect, except it's a bit too late for guys like Wale, Drake, Kendrick, etc. I think if you woulda gave THESE cats that blind hate then we could've seen some REAL music come out.

Man imagine what Wale would've done if Jay said "man, who? Wale? I think this new crop of mcs need to hone their skills the way we did" that could've made Wale into an almost Tupac obsessive type who LIVED in the studio to prove his idol/mentor wrong...to justify his place. Now a days this nikka woulda quit the rap game if Jay had said something like that.

I also blame the technology/media too. When we (the 27+ cats) were coming up there was no internet(just dial up) there were no blogs, twitter, instagram. Nah artists had more mystique back then. We didn't see how, let's face it, wack some of these cats are. I'm a huge Jay fan, when I was coming up I didn't see nothing about Jay, or Nas, or Big or any of em except what I read in Vibe, Source, XXL or saw on MTv or BET. They had an aura. But now I see these cats tweeting like me, on instagram showing off stupid ish that I feel like artists are on my level minus the money lol.

Now, cats just want to be seen in the strip club throwing wads of cash. That's all they looking for. They wanna be in KOD making money carpets and waiting in line to shake Wayne/Ross hand and get a French Montana shout out and feature they content with that. Instagram single-handedly made a cat like Fabolous lame. We know too much of u man, Jim Jones doing the same thing. Have some privacy about you man, stop making me feel like you're no better than me. That's what artists had back then, u felt they were bigger than life. Now, u likely to be their neighbor:ld:

True but I don't know how much of me bein in awe wuz just me bein a kid,it may be impossible to recreate that for me just cuz I'm grown regardless if I know absolutley shyt about these dudes...It would be like me tryna watch wrestlin today and its sum great wrestler just as good as anybody from the past....I still don't know if I could look at him like I did the wrestlers back when I thought it wuz real....sumwhere its a senior citizen arguin wit a nikka that the Hogan Leg drop is better than the Peoples Elbow:childplease:....just cuz u can't recreate that feelin he got when he first saw the hulkster do that shyt:pachaha:...no matter how much I tell em "that wuz a warmup move in the 90's:mjpls:"....that's the challenge in convincing oldheads

Sum of my first sexual experiences wuz with legendary porn stars....if a female had the same skills now id still be grateful but it would be :manny: in comparison to the :krs: the first time a chick made my dikk dissapear.....only so many dikks can be taken at a time, throats only go so deep,90's dudes had a lot more unchartered ground to cover....new dudes now have less to cover, but less to cover in a world where EVERYBODY raps....so I respect they challenge and hope its not impossible to surpass these dudes, the just need to understand they will have to be that much greater than my first to amaze me....and by the way they look up to hov,nas etc I don't know if bein GREATER is sumthin they can even fathom in they own mind....and the kicker is if they managed to be greater in most aspects it would still just probaly put them on equal ground with the cubes,pacs,jays,faces:heh:...it ain't fair but they need to know what they fightin against

I remember that shyt as well :snoop:

I also remember Meek campaigning on how great Dreams & Nightmares was going to be and the shyt reeked of mediocrity

The same ol pattern with these new artists. They would rather "look" the part be all swagger out on twitter than dropping heat

Kendrick looks like a bum but his art is out of this world

Wale looks like a walking Nike advertisement and his music is meh

No he doesn't.
He just dresses differently.

@StillNotSoft all good points... the last one about dudes in the 90s having it easy tho is a really good one

Lot of brays on here werent even alive, shyt I was like 6, 7, 8 in the early 90s and really too young to have had my hands in rap in 88...

But u look back at the music... from like 89 to 92 shyt was kinda :ld: Not to say it was bad, but it was just kinda cheesy and chintzy. Like when people talk about dated 90s music thats the era I think of. The Heavy D, the LONS, the Stetsasonics, even NWA and PE to a degree. So it was like 93, 94 came around and out the blue nikkas just decided to get serious. And they had it good too because there were zero expectations. It was just like 'aight what can u do'

These kids now do have it pretty rough. Theres this huge looming cloud over them like 'ok that was alright, but its no Illmatic'. People say its not fair but I disagree. Rap is a competitive sport. In any sport people always argue about whether new players would last in the old days and vice versa. U look at basketball, the game has progressed A LOT. U look at football, the game, the raw athleticism & talent has advanced tremendously. A 2013 lineman would rip an old nikka apart limb for limb. But with rap its like an old second string nikka would rap circles around a top dude. Regardless of how much pressure and all that it is it is what it is :manny:

The only way for these kids to get that GOAT level respect is to be GOATs. Its not easy but its not really complicated... why they are scrambling trying to figure out what to do is beyond me :pachaha:

I hope u right, but even with the advancements in athletecism how stale is the dunk contest NOW:russ:...I just hope we ain't at that point where there's only so much that can be done bcuz we feel like we've seen it all and a between the legs dunk will get u a :wtb:....its hard to believe bcuz ud like to think the ideas are limitless, but I'm not naive and know hiphop is sumwhat restrictive in what you can rap about andwhat u can experiment with without agitating fans and bein called a sellout....hiphop has its limitations

But u right it is what it is:manny: right now these dudes ain't even makin interesting where I need to question if we wrong and not giving them a fair chance....I think a unique perspective and more personal point of views always help, sum of these dudes seem like they all grew up raised in the same household, and maybe that's where bein confident enuff to be yourself without backlash comes in at.
