It's not like Hammer wasn't respected it's just the fact that Mike Concepcion is one of the dudes that started the Crips so the gang members are gonna respect him more than anybody else

Ice Cube is a studio gangster man. He isnt shyt. A friend of mine (Todd
Brown) got signed to Hammers label as an r&b singer, and one of the times
he was down in LA, Hammer, Todd, and a few other people were eating at
the same place as Cube and some people from his camp.. I guess Cube was
talking shyt under his breathe about getting Hammer for talking shyt on
his last record.. Hammer overheard and got up about it, and Cube stayed
in his seat like a bytch. I guess he said he didnt want any trouble, but
Cube got socked a few times and then he and his camp cut out. You can
probably check out the court papers on that since I think they are public
records..

Especially after Colors came out. I tried to get on that wave and got checked quick so I was done with the gang repping shyt. People here in KC still on that gang shyt though, decked out in all red or all blue. Saw a dude flagging in Price Chopper, it just made me feel old as fukk because I was shaking my head as he walked past with his basket.
