Actually, the Spurs defense fell off a cliff when Duncan was injured and they struggled with his knee injury until he lost weight :mjpls:

Meanwhile, the Lakers defense has fallen off a cliff when Kobe is in the game, you wanna take a peak at their defensive ratings :mjpls:
:wow: you are comparing a 36 year old coming off achilles injury playing 35mn per game on a bad team without 2 other hall of famers(+Kawhi), to Duncan who's on such a great team that he only plays 30mn per game.

His team is so great he doesn't even play back 2 back on some nights :lupe:

:whoo:another great case for Kobe.:sas1:

I'm comparing a 36 year old that has been resting the last two years with a 114 defensive rating to a 38 year old with a defensive rating of 96 that has made deep playoff runs the last two seasons, his rating is better than Kawhi's :LessthanTim:

Who is Ken Berger and why should we care what he has to say about anything?

Duncan can never be as good as Kobe for the simple fact that he wasn't even able to successfully defend a conference championship - something Kobe and Shaq were both able to do multiple times in the same conference. I could get over not winning back-to-back titles, but never making back-to-back Finals? Nah. He's not as good as Kobe; he may not even be as good as Shaq. Still a fringe top 10 great, though.

Go back to lurking B, that post you made above shows how out of touch with the NBA you actually are.

What? I know you don't count the 13 & 14 Finals as a plus for Duncan, do you? :ld:

He was a mere role player on both those teams. When he was running the show, he was unable to even lead a team to back-to-back Finals. It is what it is.:manny:

He was the 2nd leading scorer on both teams, 1st team all NBA in 2013 and their defensive anchor both years. Trying to say he was a "role player" would be like calling Marc Gasol the same thing.

Good to know I can throw "2nd option" titles out the window.

reggie took some major L's in the 00s, he might as well be talking highly on the 90s and nothing else

got that kobe ass whooping treatment
got his soul burned by that prince block
and if that's not enough ron artest ruins all chances to contend for a title next year with his brawl in detroit arena
Isn't that what everyone seems to do? shyt on every era except the 90's? Only league I know where the fans and talking heads will try their damnedest to discredit the present to up the past.

It's not worth arguing with these people. Complete religious fanaticism. I've learned that just putting them on ignore makes posting here a much better experience. If you listened to these guys you'd think Shaq was putting up somewhere around 15/8 type numbers those years.

I see people ignoring Kobe snatching the Spurs soul repeatedly :heh:

Somebody post some of the numbers Kobe dropped on them in the playoffs

Was Duncan dropping 40/10 games as a 2nd option in the offs :heh:

Who cares? He wasn't the best player on either of those teams, so you can't credit him with leading them to back-to-back Finals. Everybody knows Tony Parker has been the Spurs best player for the past 5-6 years. Hell, even Leonard had a bigger impact on the 2014 Spurs than Duncan. Timmy's been a role player on the Spurs for a while now.

As for making the 1st team All NBA in 2013: Well, that's not exactly difficult to do in a league that doesn't have very many quality big men.
