Depends on what you’re into...I like sports so I’d probably choose Houston. The Texans won’t suck forever and the Rockets are good now. I’ve always wanted to be living in a city with a team winning chips, that championship atmosphere:wow:

Are you a people person? If you are go to Houston a lot more black folks there to make the transition easier. If you can stomach the cacery and high cost of living San Diego does have the best weather in the country.
The culture and black population is what I found so appealing about Houston.

I could live with my dad for a year to get settled and save up money. If I go to Houston there is no way I’m staying with my sister for an extended period of time.

SD makes more sense in my head but dont know how I’ll feel being around so few black folks.

Houston is mostly democrats and black folks. But ya the hurricane thing is an issue.

Don't forget bad thick black chicks from the Diaspora, pawgs, Vietnamese, and Latin
ALL types of developments and neighborhoods influding mixed use being built or redeveloped.

Houston has every type of restaurant under the sun. You can eat if you want.

Going to be breaking ground on high speed rail between Houston and Dallas next year. Instead of 3 1/2 hour drive, a 90 minute ride.

New Orleans is not to far. Casinos 2 hours away in Louisiana. Cruises to the Caribbean and Mexico from Port of Galveston.

I'm trying to get to San Diego next year. I know it's beautiful, but don't sleep on Houston.

Do you what makes you happy though.

Lemon Grove and City Heights have a ton of Black folks. The latter is the most culturally diverse and mixed place I've ever been to. People there want to live in diversity.

I think coming from that kind of angle/question is overthinking it. San Diego is such a better decision based on the real major factors.

San Diego by general consensus is the better city.
San Diego by objective measures is the better city.
San Diego by personal convenience is the better city.

Especially if you can live there with family and stack up with that high-paying nursing salary all the worries about finances goes away. Doors are completely open.

This is life breh, you don't want to blow it.

Houston is overrated in a lot of aspects. If you’re young, single, and have a high salary go to SD.

Houston has a huge Med center, with nice housing options close by. It won’t be cheap....

That’s the problem with Houston imo. There are really nice places to stay, but they aren’t cheap like everyone says. There are neighborhoods that are in predevelopment stage, but you need to do a buy and renovation to make it worthwhile. If you want to go route.

The cheap nice places are a commutes drive away, if you’re single that could get old quick.

If you’re going to pay a premium to live in a nice city SD is the hands down winner

Have to go with Houston. Unless I’m mistaken San Diego is a navy town right? I think a lot of military bases are in S.D and the black population isn’t high at all. I also read it suffers from chronic homelessness to boot.

Houston seems to be the better option in my opinion.

San Diego..

I can't imagine that Houston humidity:scust:

It's been humid here in Jersey past week and it sucks...get off work at 7am and walk outside and my glasses fog up...and it's steamy outside...

Houston is like that from pretty much May to October :scust:

Plenty of black people in San Diego, just probably not as many as Houston.

The problem is that most black people unfortunately live in undesirable neighborhoods (i know that sounds :mjpls: but I’m a native been here my whole life)

The GOAT thing about that is you can get a nice spot in a black neighborhood for less, but not really too much to do in the areas. Spring Valley, Lemon Grove, National City, pretty much anywhere in Southeast SD you can find affordable living, but you won’t be doing much in the area.

If you move here move downtown, Cortez Hill area. Decent costs but close to the city. HMU if you have any questions :salute: and I know @Brolic Scholar is here too

I love San Diego, but the black population is 6.7% here. Houston is 23.7% black.

I grew up in the south. The difference is noticeable when it comes to that. If OP can live with that, it’s a good city to live in. It’s expensive, but if he’s making decent money he’ll be fine.

I’ve lived in Normal Heights, Lemon Grove and La Mesa.

There’s plenty to do here. And to dude that said LA is 3 hours away. It’s 2 hours if you go at the right time and don’t have to sit in traffic.
