Perfect weather and bad bytches vs hurricanes and republicans...
:jbhmm:

To be fair Houston is a bit more of a dem city.

But I'd choose San Diego myself. I'm from/live in Houston and have been to San Diego. Its less traffic, better weather and cleaner than Houston. But you could REALLY make good money in the Med Center here in Houston though.

Houston

I’m from San Diego, born and raised. I know more folks tryna leave or who have left for a place like Houston than trying to stay.

As an RN you’ll make decent money and you might like it. But as far as Black folks go don’t expect much, the population/community/presence has been declining for years now, shyt ain’t what it used to be.

I love San Diego, but the black population is 6.7% here. Houston is 23.7% black.

I grew up in the south. The difference is noticeable when it comes to that. If OP can live with that, it’s a good city to live in. It’s expensive, but if he’s making decent money he’ll be fine.

I’ve lived in Normal Heights, Lemon Grove and La Mesa.

There’s plenty to do here. And to dude that said LA is 3 hours away. It’s 2 hours if you go at the right time and don’t have to sit in traffic.

Best answer.

I'm sure San Diego has Houston beat on most fronts, but I can't imagine living in a city that's just 7% black. :hubie:

Here’s the thing.

The areas that are most desirable for young professionals are probably less than that in Houston.

Seeing black people and interacting with them are two different things.

The city may have 23% black folk, but it sure doesn’t cater to them. At least where it matters

There's a strong black social scene in Houston. :comeon:

You’re missing my point

If you wanna hang in H town you got jump in the car and drive.

Why because there are very few neighborhoods that cater specifically to black folks. You can go out in midtown, or in Washington area but let’s be real you aren’t really the target demo in that area.

FWIW

I like hanging on Almeda by the turkey leg hut and 5015.:pachaha:

I’m not trying to bash H town, but I know enough people here who don’t do anything because they don’t feel like driving.

Yes, Houston is a sprawling city, that's no secret. You gotta get in your car and drive to do EVERYTHING, not just to be social.

I'll still take that over a city that's 7% black where I'd have to drive 2-3 hours to LA for the social aspect.
