The weather is the deciding factor for me. I never lived in SD, but I lived in Hou for 3 years (live in DFW now) and I wouldn't go back if I had the choice, but I wouldn't mind if that's where my career takes me, I guess the two are too similar for me to care.

Update:

Thank yall for all the advice

Im moving to Houston

I can’t get over the cost of living in San Diego. I’ve lived comfortably financially for a while and don’t want to have to think about money issues. In SD I’d be making near 100k but making six figures in SD is pretty much just avg. The thought of spending $1800 on a month on a bland studio or 1 bed room apartment makes me sick. And I hope to own a house one day, which seems impossible in California. Money in TX housing market will go alot further than Cal. I know property taxes are high as hell in TX but the purchase prices for CA houses is insane.

The lack of black people in SD is something I can’t ignore. My dad says he goes days without seeing any black people sometimes. I need to be around black culture.

SD weather is perfect but not a big enough factor to change my opinion either way. Don’t care about beaches or proximity to LA

It took me a couple days to find a job in Houston with a decent raise in pay and good benefits.

Wish me Luck

Depending on what part of town you work in you might not be to far off from that 1800 number for rent.

Houston is cheaper on paper, but it’s not the value people make it seem

I need some advice on moving Coli brehs. I’ll be moving from Michigan when my lease on my apartment is finished in March. But cannot decide between these two cities.

Need change of scenery. Feel like I’m wasting away in Michigan. Need to get out if the midwest. Tired of the winters.

I’m an experienced registered nurse so finding a job shouldn’t be that hard.

Houston-
I’ve only visited Houston a couple times. My older sister and 2yr old niece live there.
But i know no one else out there
The cost of living is much cheaper
Diverse with significant black population
I find Michigan humidity in the summer annoying, Houston is probably much worse

San Diego-
Lived in San Diego until I was 7.
My dad and step siblings live in area.
RNs make more money out there because the cost of living is ridiculous
Population is diverse but not a lot of black people
Perfect weather

What did you decide and how is it going breh?

I would move to SD just based off the politics of the state of TX and weather. Houston is dope and if i had to live in TX again that's where i would live.

If you’re black, Houston will no question be more enjoyable. I’m making good money in SD but as someone who is looking for a black woman to settle down with or even just black people to hang with, this city is miserable.

SD is not like the rest of Cali though. Its pretty heavy conservative around here.

Houston was the right move. You have all the other major cities in Texas within 4 hours of each other, so that gives you plenty of variety in terms of jobs and experiences.

I’ve been in Houston for over two years now. If I moved to SD I would have had to accept fact that I would probably never own a home. Didn’t like that. Houstons been cool. I work in the Medical Center so I’ve been making good income especially with all the Covid incentives these past two years in hospital.

I do miss the seasons of midwest though. Here it’s hot as hell or wet
