You remember how mad UFC cacs got when a black man knocked out there cac prophet Chuck Liddell

After liddell beat ortiz, he was the golden boy. ESPN cover, on all of the late night shows, commercials, he was the great white hope, etc... And then he ran into RAMPAGE!!! A lot of whites on those MMA message boards wanted to kill themselves & then he got KO'd by another brotha in evans.
I love boxing and mma. I don't even like comparing the two because they are different sports. But you can't go around saying things like "boxing is dead" or "mma is taking over" when those guys are being paid peanuts and boxers salaries are rising. Didn't cotto just sign a 50 million dollar deal for 3 fights? You can add up the last 20 ufc cards and i doubt their fighters made that much combined. It's a fact these guys are being paid 90k to headline ppvs while boxers you've never heard of get double in non ppv fights.
People who say boxing is dead or dying are just as ignorant as people who say the same about MLB. Just because you don't like it or aren't interested anymore doesn't mean it's dying.
I agree I love both sports, I find myself watching more MMA now. But some of the things the UFC are doing have become very cartoonish/WWE like hyping up rousey as if she's the 2nd coming of ali in a women's sport that is still fairly new & different people from there claiming she can beat a lot of guys in the divison because of judo wrestling. They did it to brock as well but turns out "the animal" doesn't like getting hit in the face....
Dana white claims his fighthers make more than whats being reported publicly. I think that may be true for the top tier guys but the guys on the lower end are struggling. They have to pay their trainers, team, gym fees, food & travel.
Mayweather usually brings in the casual fan because people either love to see him fight or pay & pray hoping to see him lose. When you can bring in "the non fan or casual fan" then you're doing good. De le hoya could, ali & of course tyson could. I think dana & Co were highly pissed Gus got KO'd by rumble because that could've created hype for jones/gus II.
Dana won't admit it be he knows he can't compete with boxing right now, it's best for him to stay in his lane & see what the next 5 years bring. UFC can create hype machines like brock & rousey & I wanna see what happens with guys like thurman & broner going forward. I'm excited for both sports.
