It's amazing how these channels are these days. It's Saturday and there isn't one music video show on any of the major channels(MTV, BET, VH1, MTV2 even for fukks sake). A solid 85 percent of their programming is either reality shows, Ridiculousness, or old TV shows. Not everyone has BET Jams and it isn't the same because they just show music videos, I don't even know if they have any VJs anymore.
That's because they drop everything online now. YouTube is the new MTV :francis: But yeah tho, it's like night & day. Watching music videos on TV hit different

They did give the original scripted content a shot years back and outside of a few shows none made it past a first or second season. So they pivoted back to what works best for them and that’s reality TV. Even BET has struggled with the original content format outside of The Game which wasn’t their original property.

Unfortunately people aren’t going to tune in to music videos on those channels when they could easily watch it Youtube.

You don't necessarily "need" a BET in this era because of youtube and being able to watch what you want literally anytime you want to

HOWEVER - if you look at the clips, you see high ranking political figures being interviewed on the network

this is what we lack now, a space where we're taken seriously and people like elon musk, bezos, and political heads can talk to black america SPECIFICALLY.

I'm not a fan of jason whitlock but he used a phrase i like: it's the bigotry of low expectations, just show them music videos, some tyler perry shyt and half naked hoes and they're good :manny:
