Nope, not at all tbh. Would have been rowdy levels tbh. Though I think it kinda depended on how hard others were to support him. NY seems to get basically no love in terms of features for their up and comings. Who would have thought Detroit would be booming more than NY

Both - I've said it before and will stand on it. 69 had nikkas confused as fukk. Songs were hard and image was backing it. I don't think he would have gotten hit as hard with the snitching if not - like in comparison to gunna who even with a few shots from rappers on songs that didn't drop, still released a selling album and a hit record.

Gummo, Billy, Kooda, etc are still hard as fukk.

Unfortunately is what it is with that shyt though. We gon have to agree to disagree on what his old fanbase was though

If you think Pop Smoke would have been like Rowdy you must be a bit slow lol he would have been a superstar by now.

I used to rock with Vado heavy when he was with Cam..then he signed to Khaled when it was on trend to be signed to a label with a bunch of letters (e.g. WTB, MMG, YMCMB, CMG, ABCDEFG, etc.) so he probably thought that was his meal ticket :beli:

Then he dropped that mid azz single 'My Bae' and got lazy after that :unimpressed:

I fukked with Red Cafe LMAO
Paper Touching Remix is still a slap

nikkas in this thread rewriting history as always, a prime DJ Khaled isn't giving Cam a bag to buy out the contract of a nikka who is Red Cafe status

This is regarded as probably the greatest freshman cover ever. I VIVIDLY remember there being outrage about Vado not being included in it so much so to the point that XXL had to do damage control by including him in their freshmen concert and had him headline with Cam. I’m not saying the nikka had a massive buzz but that Boss of All Bosses mixtape series was a staple in the streets, Stop It 5 was a street hit and that became common slang. He made people start saying “slime” again(yes I know nore said it first 10 years prior but it wasn’t common slang till Vado came out). And he had everybody wearing Rugby. Plus Speaking Tungs, We All Up In Here, and Hey Muma was on regular rotation on NYC radio. Cardi B herself even cited Hey Muma as her inspiration for that coach bag line on her last song, that song was big in the city in 2011 which was her high school years.

And it could've very well been a regional thing that didn't reach past the tri-state area.. but it was a thing nonetheless.

It was obviously a brief time and he fumbled his moment by doing dumb shyt and going to Khaled, but he 100% did look like a promising prospect. ASAP Rocky kinda came outta nowhere and passed him by in late 2011 and snatched young Harlem from him and never looked back tho

Didn't he reject being on Freshman cover to have his own cover on the source?

there was without question a "blink and you'll miss it"-sized window where it looked like vado might have next in nyc.

Vado actually had a deal on the table with Interscope through Cam but then something happened between Cam and his manager and the deal got deaded....he ran to Khaled after that and since then nothing has materialized.
