I VIVIDLY remember there being outrage about Vado not being included in it so much so to the point that XXL had to do damage control by including him in their freshmen concert and had him headline with Cam. I’m not saying the nikka had a massive buzz but that Boss of All Bosses mixtape series was a staple in the streets, Stop It 5 was a street hit and that became common slang. He made people start saying “slime” again(yes I know nore said it first 10 years prior but it wasn’t common slang till Vado came out). And he had everybody wearing Rugby. Plus Speaking Tungs, We All Up In Here, and Hey Muma was on regular rotation on NYC radio. Cardi B herself even cited Hey Muma as her inspiration for that coach bag line on her last song, that song was big in the city in 2011 which was her high school years.

And it could've very well been a regional thing that didn't reach past the tri-state area.. but it was a thing nonetheless.

It was obviously a brief time and he fumbled his moment by doing dumb shyt and going to Khaled, but he 100% did look like a promising prospect. ASAP Rocky kinda came outta nowhere and passed him by in late 2011 and snatched young Harlem from him and never looked back tho

Vado actually had a deal on the table with Interscope through Cam but then something happened between Cam and his manager and the deal got deaded....he ran to Khaled after that and since then nothing has materialized.
