Nas could be said to have to two "Hot Peaks" artistically and commercially.
From 93-97 he was absolutely kidnapping, raping, and destroying every single track he jumped on. That stretch is the most purely talented MC to ever put words to paper...
His "second wind" so to speak from 2000-2003 was a force of destruction. Every-body loves it when Nas doesn't hold back and speaks his mind and this was the period where we got true, raw, uncut, Nas filled to the brim with righteous rage. Ether, Stillmatic, Nas and Jungle clowning Jay on Hot 97, Nas sonning half of the industry on Power 105 (the infamous "Look at flex...look at his face.." Was born ) dismissing Beanie Sigel in Fed Magazine, talking to Nature, Mega, and Prodigy as if they were his disappointing, underachieving little brothers on Destroy And Rebuild, burning the Source magazine while on the cover of XXL. Coming back with the one-two puch of the fantastic compilation Lost Tapes and the deeply personal, Sobering, and understated genius of God's Son. That run was spectacular
