it's by design. they know what they are doing. It is their job to maintain the status quo. They'd sooner see the country move further right than left. It'd be so easy for the Democratic party to be the true party of the people. Instead they toe the party line, concede to republicans and when they get slapped in the midterms as a direct result they'll say "well we can't get anything done because republicans" meanwhile the Republicans do whatever they want whenever.

I brought up a rebuttal to your counterpoint. As I have said before, Manchin is still a Democrat and his vote is needed. So regardless of how people try to spin it, Manchin is a Democrat on the ballot even with his Republican tendencies.
That’s why I have said before that my belief has been that Mitch was never concerned with losing the Senate as he had Manchin who could do his bidding. That’s why Democrats are in a bind as he’s technically a member of their party.
