To be honest, i found it a bit funny. Not intentionally, mind you but it is a ridicolous way to die. I know you want people to be PC about it. But facts are facts.
If something happened to me like that I wouldn't hold it against anyone to find the humor in it. But I'm also a devout Christian so I don't think of death as some terrible thing but rather a graduation to a higher plane. You're feeling offended not because what we're doing is wrong, but because death scares you and I understand that as well. But I guarantee when you eventually die you'll not care one bit about peoples morbid senses of humor.

Because when you have a sickle cell crisis they give you large amount of opiates, it's the only way to calm the pain but they're supposed to give you something for nausea/vomiting as well for this very reason. Usually zofran is what they give me.


edit opiates make you nauseas especially at huge doses given during a sickle cell crisis. You getting like 3ml of iv dilauded which is strong as fukk to calm the pain w those size doses any responsible hospital should be giving him something along w each dose this is on the hospital.

I mean it's actually common. You have patients on sedatives, IVs, pills the whole 9. Mentally you may not be in the right mind for a task as simple as eating.

People also choke all the time. If you're alone you can choke to death. You can't give yourself the heimlick. IMO being in the hospital all his life P probably said don't bother me for a while and let me be. Sad situation RIP

You can't sue the hospital cuz your loved one choked to death on food. A nurse ain't in your room 24/7 and people choke to death on the regular. Sucks if that's actually what killed him, but unless it was documented he couldn't have solids, it's not their fault.

Yeah fam this is on the hospital it is protocol to give something for vomiting for sickle cell patients w each dose of morphine/demerol/dilauded(not everything works for everyone so it's usually one of those three).
